11/20/09 Wow!! I am running behind!! Alexis turned two on November 11th!! These two years have flown by for sure. We celebrated very simply this year by decorating the whole house in pink and white streamers, having Granny Baker over and then ending the night with homemade chocolate cake and ice cream after dinner.
Granny Baker bought Alexis a shopping cart with groceries in it, which she loves and a dollhouse. (I don't think shes figured out the house thing yet) Daddy and I bought Alexis a "Belle" princess barbie doll (from beauty and the beast) Unfortunately, Ladybug amputated poor Belles feet. Alexis didn't seem to notice or care, but after getting beat up by Barbie Belle, Ladybug won't go near her or her limbs ever again. =) We also got alexis an alphabet puzzle, a shape puzzle and a number puzzle. While Alexis loves all her puzzles, she doesn't understand that the numbers and letters don't stick to the fridge and she gets mad. Mostly she sticks to her shape puzzle, because its the least frustrating. *Edit* Alexis was calling Granny Baker "Granya" during her visit. Its probably the cutest thing we've ever heard and it was the first time she had ever attempted "grandma".
Grandpa Shoup also stopped by for a quick birthday visit earlier this week. I think I already put the pictures up. Alexis enjoyed "running track" in the living room with Grandpa. For some reason, instead of calling Grandpa "grandpa" she kept calling Grandpa "daddy". While Grandpa and I thought this was amusing, Daddy was quite surprised and shocked. (Personally, I think its the hair cut!!!) We are looking forward to another visit from the Grandparents Shoup for Christmas!!
Mommy has also just finished Christmas Gifts for everyone. I need mailing addresses for all the Grandparents and for the SBYG in Ohio and anyone else who would like to receive a homemade gift from Alexis. My plan is to have the gifts shipped directly to those of you who would like one.
Thats all for now. I have to go make hot lunch for Alexis, Peyton and I to enjoy in this cold rainy weather.
Love Alexis and Mommy!!!
11/7/09 Two years ago today, I marched through a shopping mall in an effort to get Alexis to come out and then spent the rest of the day really mad because it was my due date and I knew for sure that it was going to come and go without Alexis making an appearance. Due dates are such a crock!! Anyways, I don't have much new to report... Alexis is currently fighting off a nasty cold complete with cough and runny nose. :( Poor Abootstay is SO unhappy. That makes her birthday a little hard to plan for because I don't know how she will be feeling by wednesday or if shes still harboring enough cooties to get others sick. *For those of you who are intersted, Peytons registry is at Target.com under my name or daddy's name. For my sake, please keep your fingers crossed that Boo gets better soon. She is SO grumpy when she is sick. -Mommy and Alexis!! 11/5/09 Alexis broke my heart into a million pieces this morning. :( Most of you know that we lost our sweet Foxy B on June 4th of this year. It was devastating for all of us, foxy was very much a loved and wanted part of this family and her sudden illness and passing just broke all of our hearts. (You can see a slideshow of her, added to boo's page after she passed away.) Apparently, Alexis, as young as she is/was, is not an exception to this rule. (As much as I was hoping that wouldn't be the case.) Where we live now, our neighbor across the street has a little dog that could be foxy's twin sister. Looks just like her except for white patches on her face... right down to the butt rockets, it could be her twin. Anyways, she got out and came over to say Hi to us while we were getting in the car. For her safety, I got her to come to me, so I could return her home because I would hate to see her get hurt. I picked her up and when Alexis saw her, she reached for her and started saying "Hi Ho ho, Hi Ho Ho..." and I told her "its not Ho ho, this is Pinky!!" She didn't listen and kept reaching for her, saying "Ho Ho Ho Ho". I walked across the way and handed Pinky back to her owner and Alexis lost it. She fell on the ground and started crying big tears and saying "Ho ho, Mama, why?" and kept asking me over and over. It seriously broke my heart. I cried with her as I put her in her carseat and she laid her head to the side and kept whining, "ho ho, why? Why?" Yesterday marked five long months since that terrible day. I can't believe that at such a young age, Alexis remembers her dog and wants her home as much as Daddy and I do. It amazes me how hard it is for all of us still. I cry when I think about her, look at her pictures or spend time with her urn. Daddy gets teary when we talk about her. Most of all, I miss her because I don't have a belly ornament anymore... shes missing. Don't get me wrong, Ladybug is an absolutely awesome dog and is becoming very sweet and loving, but she is definately no Ho Ho Bear and of course, she never will be. The strangest part to me is that Alexis thought ladybug was ho ho for only a day, but she knows now that that is not her Ho Ho. She loves Ladybug, they run and play together and Alexis sneaks her stuff and makes her sick her stomach, and sometimes, they even share Boo's couch... but she knows, just like we do, that as much as we love Ladybug and think shes a good dog, she just isn't a ho ho bear. I think thats incredible for a two yr old to be aware of such a thing.
10/31/09 Mommy and Daddy threw a halloween party for Kassandra and her kids and Alexis and Ladybug. We had really yummy pizza and then got our costumes on and got ready to hit the town. Since Mommy and Kassandra weren't feeling well and we had two little ones under two, we only walked up and down the street we live on. The kids did pretty good though. Alexis had been working on saying trick or treat, but in the excitement forgot to say anything at all. She wanted to grab candy from people and put it in her bucket herself. Alexis did, however, start saying Thank You to everyone who gave her candy. I was so proud. She did really good this year. (Granny Sandy and I remember what last year was like!! LOL!) Ladybug also went trick or treating with us, but she didn't seem to enjoy it much. She was dressed up as a Ladybug!! (We thought it would be funny.) We came home and snapped a few pictures of Alexis playing with all her candy. Then when we took her costume off, she decided she wanted to wear Ladybugs costume, which she is still wearing currently. All in all, Halloween 2009 was a success. We did manage a few pictures with our stupid camera, which I uploaded already. I am also working on getting pics from both Gavin and my cell phones, and will start uploading those tomorrow. Enjoy. Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. Love Daddy, Mommy, Alexis and Ladybug 10/27/09 It may be in a funky order, but I just figured out how to switch the format on my cellphone pictures to a format that is compatable with bhp, so I'm switching and uploading as I go. Enjoy!! -Marilyn 10/24/09 Good morning everyone!! Last weekend we took Alexis to the pumpkin patch... I did manage to snap some pictures with my cellphone, but since its in a bmp format, I can't post those pictures to her page. She had a ton of fun out there. She picked out her own pumpkin, rode around in a wagon, climbed the hay stack and rode the hay ride with Daddy. We were going to have lunch out there, but they didn't except ATM so we bailed and had lunch at in and out burger instead. You may notice that we haven't been posting pictures lately. That is because of our crappy camera that I want to throw against the wall everytime I try to use it. When we get a new one (hopefully sometime soon) then we will get back to ALL BOO ALL THE TIME. Lol!! Our little Tinker is SO smart for almost being two. She says her entire alphabet and counts to 10. Her latest accomplishment was reading off the letters in the alphabet as Daddy put them on the fridge for her. She amazes me everyday with the words she says and her actions. Alexis greets Daddy with a "hi daaaaddddyyy" when he gets home from work every night and in the mornings, I usually wake up to "Heeellllloooo??? Hi Hi" She says Yes and No and if I ask her if she needs a diaper change, she will say yes and run over and lay down so that I can change her. She talks on her phone and plays kitchen. She likes to read books and as far as I can tell, she is a full blown kid these days. No more baby here. 10/5/09 Alexis is very excited to announce that her SISTER, Peyton, will be joining us on or around March 6th 2010!!
Yay for Alexis getting to be a big sister!!
10/1/09 Poor Tinky Boo finally caught the cooties we brought home from Uncle JPs house. She has a runny nose and a bad attitude. :( I hope she feels better soon.
9/28/09 Well, Alexis sure is a spoiled little princess. Daddy and Grandma Baker decided that she shouldn't have to wait until her birthday to have a kitchen, so they took her out shopping and bought her her very own kitchen with accessories for her room. She also got new outfits and curtains for her room. Super spoiled Tinker, but after you read the rest of this story, you will know that she deserved it!!
Last Monday, Alexis, Ladybug and I headed out at 4 am to go to Idaho Falls, ID to go and meet Uncle John (my brother) and Aunt Serenity and cousins Maria, Alex and Poncho. We drove all day through CA, NV and finally ID until we arrived at their house in Idaho Falls at 5 o clock (our time) 6 o clock (their time)
Now I know what your thinking, because I thought it too. Just how terrible was Alexis on a 13 hr car ride?? Actually, she was a perfect little princess, the ENTIRE way. At every potty/gas break, she hopped out of the car, headed to the potty, got a booty change and paid for gas without a single temper tantrum or meltdown. She rode in the car and played with her toy or listened to music with Mommy and even spent time petting Ladybug. I was so incredibly impressed with her road warrior capabilities, that at our last potty break in Twin Falls ID, I bought her gummy lifesavers as a treat. (which she loved!!)
Anywho, we went to feed the ducks and hit the zoo during our visit. Alexis enjoyed spending time with her cousins. It took some time for her to get used to her uncle. :) I enjoyed hanging out with my big brother. The visit was over too soon.
We headed out on Wednesday night at 12am. Alexis slept for the most part. We took a small nap break in Elko NV, and I accidently slept until the sun came up. Alexis woke up when I did. We headed to the gas station, got some of the worst coffee known to man and some doughnuts for the abootstay, and hit the road. I asked Alexis before we left the gas station, "you ready to hit the road Boo?" She said, "Yeah... Ok!!" And off we went. We only stopped for gas one more time after that in some place in NV, that didn't have a name, just a gas station, and then we booked it back home. We made it to Sacramento by 1pm and we hit our driveway by 115. Again, Alexis did beautifully... and by the time she thought about freaking out, we were in Rocklin, so it was fine.
I should have pictures of our visit to share in a day or two. Thank you to my brother and his family for having us and congratulations to Alexis for being such a big girl and completing a successful roadtrip.
Love Alexis the road warrior toddler and Mama.
9/19/09 Phew!! You haven't heard from us because we moved. We have been busy getting settled into our new place.
Alexis loves it here. She has stairs that she can run up and down all day long. It keeps her occupied and wears her little toddler butt out which makes Mommy and Daddy happy. She has her own room with only her stuff in it and is now allowed to go and play by herself up there, and that seems to please her the most.
In other news, Miss Alexis has been working on her alphabet and can now say most of the letters. When she is taking her bath, she picks her letters out of the water and says them as she puts them up on the wall, and she usually has them right. The newest game we've been playing with her is counting. I started by trying to get her to count to five, but when I got to five, Alexis looked up at me and said, "Six...." and so I kept going until we got to ten. Its very cute to watch because when you start counting with her, she leans over and starts counting her toes as you go along. She learned that from Mommy since I started counting her toes when they handed her over at the hospital and I never really stopped. = )
Since Miss Tinky Boo is about to turn two in two very short months, I wanted to discuss birthday plans with everyone. While we haven't decided about party details, we have decided that we do need a new, major addition to her toy collection. Alexis loves to play "kitchen". She loves dishes and tea party, and fake food stuff, so Daddy and I were thinking that she needs her very own kitchen to play with in her room. These are a little bit pricey and we have been searching at Toys R Us because we would like to get her a new one and possibly accesories to go with it. So what I was thinking that instead of everyone getting her a seperate toy, maybe everyone could give us cash or gift certs to Toys R Us towards the purchase of a play kitchen, dishes, food and maybe even a toy tea set as a bonus.
If you would like to look at the kitchen we have in mind and would like to purchase, please click on this link....
Anyways, I have to go eat lunch, be sure to check up on the baby's page to see the new ultrasound shot!!
Love Mommy and Alexis.
9/1/09 I had a reading done on Alexis's sign and the new baby's sign and heres what I found. Tell me if you agree:
Joined at the Hip![]() Scorpio ![]() ![]() Pisces Of course, Scorpio may not have patience for Pisces's frequent fantasies. This child has an agenda, while Pisces just wants to laugh and play in a world of her own imagining. That's likely to be their only source of trouble, and it shouldn't be too difficult to handle, because Pisces understands her sibling's emotionally intense nature. When they do fight, however, don't hesitate to intervene. With two such sensitive children, their harsh words can really cut deep.

We have some very exciting news to share!! Mommy found two new (to us) cousins that have been missing in action for the past 19 yrs or so. These are Uncle Orvie's sons Josh and Jesse. (Orvie was my moms brother who passed away when we were kids.) Both boys or should I say men, lol, are married and Josh has a son named Hunter who is about a year older than Alexis. I am hoping to have pictures to share soon. Its always awesome to find long, lost family members... and in case you haven't noticed, there is always plenty of those on my side of the family. : 0 )
Alexis has been sleeping in lately! Mommy and Daddy are extremely thankful for this turn of events. We've been sleeping until 930 everyday which is just awesome. Go baby daughter!!
Shes also been spending a lot of time with Daddy during his vacation. Unfortunately the weather has not been very cooperative with going to the park, but today will be a perfect day to hang out at the pool.
We are hoping to move from where we are soon, just waiting for the last few pieces to fall into place.
I have to go feed the troops! Have a great Saturday!
-Mommy and Alexis
8/16/09 Hey there.... we don't have much new stuff to report. Alexis did get to spend a little bit of time with her granny baker on Thursday, but unfortunately Granny was called away on an emergency so the visit was cut short. We are hoping for a make up visit sometime during this upcoming week before Granny returns to work in the fall. A big thank you to Granny Ness in Fresno for the beautiful dresses and outfits that we received in the mail. They fit perfect and Alexis wanted to change into her american flag dress as soon as she saw it! Perfect dresses for a perfect princess. Alexis has been starting to talk more and more these days. We are very excited to report that she said "shoulders" this morning while singing head shoulders knees and toes. She is also able to answer yes and no, follow simple instructions, walk up the stairs without assistance (kinda) and loves to take a bath If you say, "Alexis, do you want to take a bath?" She will stop whatever shes doing, even if shes throwing a fit and run full baby speed for the bathroom to take a bath!! Lets hope that sticks!! Now, for the temper tantrum report... our sweet little princess is perfecting this routine as well, much to Mommy and Daddy's displeasure. This includes jumping up and down, screaming at the top of her lungs and launching herself backwards into walls, counters or whatever is behind her. While we are concerned for her safety, the rule is we ignore her until she stops. We ask that visitors do the same. We know its hard to listen to her scream (because we have to do it all the time) but the sooner she learns that sort of behavior doesn't get her anything at all, the sooner she will knock it off and we can go back to having our fun little Tunky . This mornings meltdown was induced by finishing brushing her teeth and putting the toothbrush away. Alexis launched herself into the wall behind her, smacking her head with a resounding "THUNK" and screamed and rolled around on the floor crying. I stepped over her, walked out of the room and went and sat down. She continued her theatrics down the hall and into the living room, but after a minute and a half, when she realized neither Mommy or Daddy responded to her or cared that she was being a beast, she quieted down quickly. A few seconds of silence was followed by a "Hi Maaaaaaaa" from a smiling toddler daughter. This is our goal every time and our plan seems to be working so we will continue. :) Can't wait for this stage to be OVER!!! Love Alexis, Mommy and the sweet Ladybug
8/13/09 Just a real quick update: Grandma is coming for a visit, so we should have some pictures after today.... AND Mommy is selling Avon now, so if you would like to order something, you can go to www.youravon.com/marilynrussell and place your own order... how cool is that?? I will be back this evening for a big update. = ) Love, Alexis and Mommy 8/4/09 Today got off to a very rocky start but turned out great!! I decided to take Miss Alexis Tinker over to Funderland and see how she liked riding ride. We got ready first thing in the morning and drove over to Kristen and Brookes house. I was so excited to see Alexis's face when we got there, but then we hit a bump in the road. Mommy (who is running for super mom of the year) locked Alexis and the keys in the car in front of Kristens house. Alexis had her singing dog and was occupied although she kept looking at me like, "why are you standing outside the car and not getting me out??" Lucky for Mommy and Alexis that we were parked in the shade, it wasn't hot today and that Kristens neighbor is a rock star and used his triple A benefits so the tow truck driver would get my baby and my keys out of the car. Jacks towing arrived within five minutes and the crisis was ended. Once we got past Mommy's screw up, Alexis, Kristen, Brooke and I walked over to Funderland. The look on Alexis's face when we walked through the gate was so adorable. She was so excited with everything that was going on and was jumping up and down and looking at all the rides. We tried the octopus first, but Alexis wouldn't stop screaming, so we tried the carosel and that worked. The only real problem we had was getting her to understand that you get on the ride, you ride and then you get off. I let her ride the carosel twice in a row and then forced her off to go and try something else. We tried the train next. Alexis screamed her face off and physically assaulted poor unsuspecting Kristen, who was stuck on ride duty, because I'm pregnant so I can't ride ANYTHING at all. Once the train got moving though, she got quiet, but then freaked out when it was time to get off again. After that, we took a lunch break. Alexis's behavior improved greatly with a corn dog and some raisins and a sippy. Once we finished, Alexis rode on the cars, which she "drove" with her sippy cup in her hand like a true californian. We hit the train again, then finished with the carosel and headed back to Kristens because we were both so tired. Alexis fell asleep in the car and I got a picture of that as kind of a "end result" of our fun Mommy/daughter day. She is still pretty tired and I'm sure she will sleep well tonight. I may take her to the park tomorrow morning and let her get some good exercise while the weather isn't ridiculously hot. Check out our pics from today in the picture section. A big special thank you to Kristen for doing ride duty with Alexis and Louis (kristens neighbor) for calling out Triple A for us this morning. Love, Alexis and Mommy 8/3/09 Today, we took Alexis with us to the doctors so that she could be there when her baby sibling got its first picture taken!! She was so good and sat almost quietly in the chair while Dr. Z examined Mommy and Baby and talked to Daddy. After that was all finished, we headed out to Taco Bell for a family lunch break and then to Target where we bought Alexis some Converse Shoes (SIZE 7!!!) and a few other things we needed around the house. Now, its nap time for Alexis and relaxation time for Mommy and Daddy. :) 7/29/09 Alexis is now starting to talk up a storm!! We are so excited and love every little word that comes out of that kids mouth. She greets Daddy when he comes home from work with a "Hi Da" and when he leaves "Bye Da". Ladybug also gets greetings in the morning with a "Hi Laydeeee" and along with that we get No, Ya, Great, and if you ask her "Guess What?" She will respond "What?" We also get a what when you say her name. Pretty darn cute. Other than her new found words, we've been keeping quiet and not leaving home too much. Its been really hot out, but since its mellowed a little bit, we did go to the pool for about an hour today, which Alexis enjoyed. The only other update I have is that Miss Independent almost got her little self ran over twice yesterday by running from Mommy in two different parking lots in the same day... and laughing while she did it. I'm glad that we can start the terrible twos early. =) Love Mommy and Alexis
7/21/09 Yesterday, alexis pulled her diaper off and ran and peed on the kitchen floor. I figured it was a fluke thing and maybe I should just paper train her before I try to potty train her. Then this morning, I came out and saw that she had pulled her diaper off and pooped on the floor. (GROSS!!) So, I ran out and bought her a potty. Alexis just woke up from her nap a few minutes ago. I brought her out into the living room and told her that I bought her a new present so she could go potty like Mommy and Daddy do. We unwrapped it and I put it together. (When I pulled her out of her crib, she had removed her diaper, so she was already bare bottomed.) Alexis sat right down on her potty and peed!! I was so proud of her, we clapped and said Ya and sang her potty song. Oh baby daughter is getting so grown up!! Love Mommy and Alexis big girl!!
7/16/09 Mommy is running out of time for updates!! Last week, Alexis spent a lot of time with Grandma while Mommy and Daddy took a trip out of town. Unfortunately, we encountered some unexpected problems and had to return home early. Alexis was having so much fun with Granny Baker, I don't think she even noticed that we were gone. Lol!! After Granny left for home, Alexis crashed out at about 8:00 which is super early for her little baby daughter bootie! 7/9/09 We've had a quiet week around here. For the fourth, we had a bbq at home and Auntie Lori came over. We've had a few trips to the park and some swimming. We are having a problem posting pictures lately, so give me some time they will be up. On Monday, Granny Baker came for a visit. When she left Tuesday morning, Alexis got fussy, jumped in her arms and waved goodbye to momma. It was very cute to see her want Grandma to hang out for a while. Its a good thing that Grandma is coming back tonight and will be spending the whole weekend with her. Anyways, thats all for now. Mommy and Alexis.
