Happy New Year! Over the past two weeks Hailey has been a pretty busy little girl. She went and saw Santa...which she did not like. Poor Hailey started to shake in fright as Santa tried to hold her. We ended up having to do a "family" picture with him :)
Hailey had a wonderful first Christmas! We actually did our Christmas here in VA the Sunday before; with us traveling this was the easiest thing for us to do. She was very excited when daddy brought her down and she saw all the presents under the tree and the big toy Santa had left for her. She crawled right over to the toy and started to play with it. Hailey even opened a few of her own gifts!
On Monday, we headed to MD for the week. We were able to spend a lot of time with our families. It was great getting to see them all and letting them see how much Hailey had changed. As well as watch her crawl around and get into everything.
On Christmas Eve, we went to church and then out to eat with my family. Then on Christmas morning, we went to Brad's brother and sister in laws house to celebrate with the Gilroys. Hailey loved all of the gifts and getting to play with her cousin Aiden! That afternoon we headed to my sisters house to spend time with my family. My aunt and uncle got to meet Hailey for the first time :) That evening we traveled to my aunts house to spend time with my dads side of the family.
The next day we got together at my moms house to do Christmas with them. It was great getting to spread the holiday out over a couple of days. It made it last longer :) Hailey enjoyed playing with her new kitchen set with her cousins Savannah. Kelsi, and Ryan.
Overall Hailey's first Christmas was wonderful...tiring but wonderful!! She loves all of her toys and goodies that she got. Our families spoiled her!!!
Brad and I went to the Ravens game on Sunday...Go Ravens!! We had a good time and were very happy to watch them win and make their way into the playoffs!
We were back in VA by Monday morning for Brad to get back to work. Last night, we had some friends over to help ring in the New Year. Hailey had fun playing with Jake, Logan, and Jake (yes, two Jakes). The kids did very well for staying up past their bedtimes. Hailey only made it til 9:30 :)
Hailey is now able to pull herself up to a standing position and is working on being able to stand without holding onto anything. She is still working on the whole balance thing! She loves chasing after Rocky....and Rocky loves when she does it!
Brad, Hailey, Rocky, and I have enjoyed our time together and are not looking forward to the next 6 months or so. It seems like the last month just flew by. I just keep telling myself that the sooner it gets started the sooner it will be over!
Just a quick update....
Hailey has started to crawl and finally has a second tooth! We can't wait to see everyone over the holidays!
Comments She must of wanted to keep up with JR and Jake. Cant wait to see you all! - Jess Cunningham
Happy Holidays! Hailey and I are enjoying our time with Brad! This past weekend we went to the Rampager Kids Christmas Party. Hailey wasn't too sure of Santa but she did like the gift he gave her. She needed a little help getting it opened but had a lot of fun playing with it.
We having been spending some time with the Perez's. Hailey and Jake are still "learning" how to play together. Hailey isn't too sure what to do when Jake touches her face...so she just cries :) I am trying to get her to watch and learn from Jake. He is crawling and pulling himself up; Hailey isn't doing any of that yet. She tries but isn't quite getting it!
Hailey is teething and having a miserable time with it! We have spent the last three nights up with her. She sleeps an hour or two and then cries for an hour or two...all night. Needless to say we are a pretty tired family!
We are looking forward to the rest of the month together as a family!
PS-Hailey got a letter from Santa! Thanks Grandmom Werner :) It was very cute and will be a great addition to her baby book.
On Friday, Hailey went with Ms. Ruth, her babysitter, to the pumpkin patch. Ms. Ruth said Hailey was very good and loved the hay ride. She even brought home her own little pumpkin! On Saturday night, Hailey attended her first Halloween party. We all had a great time! Hailey did very well. She wasn't scared of any of the costumes...and believe me some of them were pretty interesting. We had Obama and Palin, Barf (from SpaceBalls), two biker dudes, Larry the Cable Guy, Doug and Karri from King of Queens, and more :) Hailey and I went as Mary and her little lamb. Of course Hailey was adorable!
I have added pictures from Hailey's first Navy football game and Hailey in her costume...enjoy!
We had a wonderful weekend! Brad came home last Wednesday, so Hailey, Rocky, and I drove to Va Beach to meet him. We spent the next few days there. I loved being back in my house :) Hailey was very happy to see daddy. As soon as he opened the car door, Hailey gave him a huge smile. She is definately daddy's girl!
On Friday, we headed to Ocean City to meet up with the Perez's. The weather was beautiful. Hailey got to spend time with her friend Jake. They both are growing so fast and are doing similar things. They played together well. Hailey loved to get Jake's feet and and Jake loved to bite Hailey's face/ear. Brad and I were able to spend time with Bobby and Amy. We went to the beach; which the dogs loved; went shopping, went to the boardwalk, watched football (yes, even the Ravens game), played games, ate crabs, and just relaxed. It was great!
Hailey is 7 1/2 months old and doing great! She weighs over 17 pounds and is very long. She can clap and do "so big" and is starting to say some letter sounds like "ba", "i", etc. We haven't figured out what she is going to be for Halloween yet, but whatever it is, I am sure she will be adorable :)
It was hard saying bye to Brad on Monday but this is only for a short time. He will be coming up here for the weekend. We are going to Navy's homecoming football game...Go Midshipman! Brad will be leaving again next week. He will be gone for another month.
I have added some pictures. Enjoy!
I have finally added some more pictures. We hope you enjoy :)
Things are going well. Hailey, Rocky, and I are doing well. We are getting settled back here in MD. Hailey loves her daycare provider! She is located not even a mile away from my parents house; which is a huge convience for me. School is going...the kids are keeping me busy and on my toes...I guess there are a few in every class who like to test you. Brad is out onthe ship right now. According to his emails, things are going well. He is flying a lot, which always keeps him happy. He will be back in about two weeks.
Once Brad gets back we will be spending a long weekend together in Ocean City. The Perez's (our best friends in VA) will be coming for a few days. We haven't seen them for a while and we miss them. Hailey misses Jake (their son) and Rocky misses Max and Connor (there two labs). Of course Brad and I miss them all :)
I will try to get back into the routine of updating this regularly!
Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote. As you know things in the Gilroy family have been changing. Hailey and I are back in MD getting settled while Brad is out on the ship. He will be gone for a month, home for two weeks, and then gone for another month. During that time I am subbing at Glendale Elementary in a third grade class. It has been great being back at Glendale! I missed the staff and school so it has been a pretty easy transition. However, I do have to remind myself that I am only a substitute.
Hailey is doing well. She is six months old and growing so fast. I call her my "Chunky Monkey". Both Brad and I were chuncky babies so it is only natural :) She is rolling all over the place and sitting on her own. No signs of crawling yet. She still doesn't like to be on her stolmach for long periods of time. No teeth yet either. Just a lot of drowling and gummimg. She started at her daycare this week. So far so good. Hailey is also not sleeping through the night yet :( She only gets up once or twice and usually it only takes about ten minutes to get her to settle down. She doesn't even really wake up. She just cries but her eyes are shut. I am hoping she grows out of this soon. Other then that she is wonderful and I am loving every minute being with her!
I will add pictures soon. My pictures are stuck on my camera right now. My laptop doesn't have a place for the memory card and we can't find the cord that goes from the camera to the computer. I have to make my way to Best Buy to see if they sell just the cord. So keep checking back for new pictures!
Well, I look forward to seeing all of my friends and family here in MD!
Well, we made it through Brad's first month away! It was hard, but being in MD with family and friends made it easier. We are now back in VA Beach and have just spent the last three days with Brad. Hailey loves daddy!!! And of course so does Rocky!
While in MD we stayed with my parents. Rocky loved being able to get in the pool everyday. He would jump off of the steps, swim around, and get out, run around the yard and do it all over again! He even made friends with a neighborhood cat. However, I think his favorite person is Pop :) He spent all of last week with Pop while Hailey, Mommom, and I were at the beach.
We did get to spend a lot of time in Ocean City. In fact, most of our time was spent there. Hailey made it down to the beach a few times. On really hot days, she just stayed in the condo while my mom and I took turns going to the beach. Hailey liked to sit under the umbrella and watch everything going on around her....her great grandmom would be proud. She is definately living up to the name :)
Hailey and I were able to spend a night with Nana, Poppop, Uncle Bill, Aunt Alexis, and cousin Aiden. Hailey loves getting to see them! We had a great time with them all. Aiden likes to talk to Hailey and help change her diapers :)
Hailey also spent some time with her cousins Savannah, Kelsi, and Ryan. Savannah is a big help! Kelsi likes to play with her and Ryan is getting used to her. He is starting to watch her and tries to play with her. He even tries to say her name....it is so cute!!! Next year they will be getting into trouble together; I am sure Ryan will be the ring leader though :)
As for Brad, his trip went well. He was in Fallon, Nevada for training. He missed his girls and dog though; and is very happy to be home! He leaves again in September and will be gone for just about a month. He will be going out on the ship for more training.
For those of you who don't know, I have accepted a long term substitute job back at Glendale Elementary. It is in a third grade class and I start right when the kids go back on August 25. I am very excited about getting back to Anne Arundel County and especially Glendale! I am only working until Thanksgiving and then will be taking December off to be with Brad back here in Va. Then I should be back at Glendale for another long term sub position starting in January. So Hailey and I will be back in MD for quite awhile this year. We look forward to getting to see all of you again!
Last week Hailey turned 4 months old! She weighs 13 pounds 8 ounces and is 25 1/4 inches long. Yesterday, she had her 4 month check up. She had to get four shots and one oral vacine :( She did not like that at all. She cried for about half hour after the nurse finished giving them to her. Today she is out of it...maybe from the tylenol :)
Last night Hailey had cereal for the first time. She wasn't too sure of it but started to get the hang of it by the end.
We spent last weekend at the beach. Hailey enjoyed seeing both sets of grandparents and the Davis family. She did go down to the beach one day. When we put her feet in the sand for the first time she pulled them right back up. But soon after she had fun digging her toes in it.
Next week Brad leaves for three weeks. Hailey and I will be heading back to MD. We will be alternating between OC and my parents house. I hope to see some of you then!!!
Hailey rolled over this morning! She went from her back to her tummy...and then cried because she doesn't like being stuck on her belly :)
This past weekend was a lot of fun! We traveled up to Maryland and were able to visit with a lot of our family and friends. On Saturday morning I went to visit Robin and the newest Price, Peyton. She is adorable! Both mom and baby are doing well and big sister Taylor is very excited :) That afternoon was cousin Ryan's first birthday party. It is hard to believe that he is already one. Unfortunately, Hailey didn't make it too long. She was fussy and tired so she took a little nap and then it was time for her and daddy to head to spend some time with Nana. Brad went golfing with his father while I stayed for the rest of the party. Saturday night was cousin Savannah's dance recital. She did very well! For Father's Day we went to eat with the Gilroy's and Jordan's. Hailey made her first trip to Seaside...yummy! It was great getting to see so many of our loved ones in one visit.
This week Nana has been here in Va Beach for a visit. It has been a big help having her here. Hailey loves spending time with Nana and I have been able to get some things done that I have been putting off. We are really going to miss her when she is gone!
Hailey, Rocky, and I will be back in MD in July once Brad leaves for Fallon, Nevada. He will be gone from the middle of the month to the beginning of August.
It is hard to believe that Hailey is already 3 months old! Time sure does fly :)
Last weekend, Mom Mom came to visit. Mom Mom was nice enough to watch Hailey Saturday night. Brad and I had a Change of Command party to go to for Brad's squadran. It was the first time we left her...knowing we were leaving her with family made it easy :) She did well except for when Mom Mom gave her a bath.
Bath time is getting better. Now she only cries when we take her out of the water. I guess Daddy and Mommy are starting to get the hang of it :)
This week, Hailey and I made two trips to school. On Monday, we went there for Jen's wedding shower and then on Friday we spent the day with my students; it was their field day. The students are very sweet and love having Hailey and I there.
Next weekend we will be back in MD for Little Ryan's first birthday and Savannah's dance recital. Hopefully, we will see a lot of you then!!
Last weekend was busy for the Gilroy family. Friday we went to Busch Gardens with Bill, Alexis, and Aiden. Hailey did really well. She slept on and off throughout the day and enjoyed all the sights and sounds. We couldn't have asked for her to be any better! She even did great in the car. She slept the whole way there and almost the whole way home. Unfortunately, we hit a lot of traffic and the 45 min. trip took 2 hours! Hailey did give us a nice and stinky present while we were sitting in traffic! Boy was that fun...changing her diaper while she was in her car seat :)
Friday night we headed to Ocean City for the rest of the weekend. Luckily, Hailey slept the whole car ride there. I guess Busch Gardens tired her out. While at Ocean City she got to visit with both sets of Grandparents and cousin Kelsey. Unfortunately, we were unable to take her on the beach. It was too windy. Hopefully, when we go back in June/July we will be able to take her down and let her feel the sand, etc.
Hailey has been doing better with sleeping at night...well at least until last night. All weekend and for the beginning of this week, she has been going to bed between 8 and 9:30 and sleeping about 5 1/2 to 6 hours, waking up for a bottle, and then back down for another 3 to 4 hours. Now last night we weren't so lucky. Brad had to fly this morning so I had to do it by myself which always makes it worse. Hailey was pretty tired all day yesterday and took a few naps...I guess too many because it took us awhile to get her to go to sleep and when she finally did, she was up every 2 1/2 hours. It was not fun!! So today I am trying to keep her awake as much as possible :)
Tonight we have a farewell party at Brad's old Skipper's house. Keep your fingers crossed that Hailey does well. Then tomorrow night Mommom is coming in for the weekend. We can't wait!
Hailey had a great week! She had a night with Daddy, a play date with Jake, and attended a cookout where she got to meet baby Brock. Hailey is the oldest of the bunch but only by a few weeks. She is also the only girl...so she will have plenty of good guys to choose from :)
This week should be fun. This afternoon we will be attending our squadran's Change of Command ceremony (keep your fingers crossed that Hailey cooperates) and on Thursday Bill, Alexis, and Aiden will be sailing into town. They are bringing their sailboat up for a short visit. Hopefully, if the weather is nice and Hailey behaves, we will be going to Busch Gardens on Friday with them. Then we hit the road to Ocean City for the weekend.
Hailey's baptism went really well. She did great until Poppop poured water on her head. I guess it reminded her of getting her hair washed...something she hates!! It was nice getting to see our family and friends. Most of our visits to MD go by so fast that we are unable to visit with everyone; so it helped having everyone get together in one location :)
Well Hailey made it through her first trip to MD! She did really well on the car ride up and back. She slept for about three hours and woke wanting to be changed and fed. It did help that Aunt Heather was there for the ride to MD and that MomMom Jordan rode back to VA with us. We had to change our plans and come back to VA a few days early so that Hailey could go to her doctor. Come to find out, the poor little girl has reflux and has to take medicine twice a day for it. We are still working with her to get her to swollow it and not spit it out. Brad seems to have more luck with her then I do!
As for her trip to MD, she had a great time. She got to meet many family and friends and enjoyed playing with her cousins Savannah, Kelsi, Ryan, Aiden, and good friend, Taylor. They all loved her...except little Ryan. At first he wasn't too sure of her (maybe it was that he wasn't too sure who was taking his mom mom away from him) but by the end of the second week he was better. Rocky also had a fun trip. He loved being at MomMom and Pop's house...however I am not sure that he will be invited back...he jumped on the pool cover three times in two days. Pop wasn't too happy. He had to keep chasing Rocky back and forth trying to get him off. We had to make a rule that Rocky wasn't allowed in the backyard without his leash on. Rocky did find a nice comfortable spot to sleep though; be sure to check out the pictures :)
This past weekend we spent at Ocean City. Springfest was going on so we took Hailey on her first trip to the beach. She had fun walking around Springfest and down the boardwalk. Unfortunately we were unable to take her down to the beach because it was too windy; maybe next time. I think her, and Rocky's, favorite part of the OC trip was when Brad met us there on Saturday. Both Hailey and Rocky were very excited to see Daddy after two weeks! Me too, daddy took care of all the night time feedings this weekend :) Also this weekend, Hailey discovered that she had a hand. She was very interested with her right hand. She kept starring at it and moving it around.
The rest of this week will be spent getting ready for Hailey's Baptism on Sunday. We will be traveling back to MD on Friday evening for the weekend.
New pictures will be added soon! I just have to get Brad to download them from the camera...I guess I should learn how to do that :)
Okay, most of this week was pretty rough, but this weekend was the most fun that we've had with Hailey yet...so all was forgiven. Brad had off on Friday so the whole family made a trip over to the boardwalk for some "stroller" time. Of course, Hailey slept through most of it, but mommy and daddy were very happy to get out of the house again. After her typical late afternoon colic spell, Hailey settled down and got a great night of sleep last night.
Today was even better for the whole family. Hailey has been in a great mood all day long and went on a great walk around the neighborhood before the rains came. She also spent most of the afternoon watch lacrosse with daddy and smiling at his stupid jokes. A piece of advice for everyone who's looking forward to meeting her next week...sticking your tongue out at her will get you a smile almost every time (I've included pictures to prove it).
Tomorrow will be Hailey's third trip to church. She usually does fine until the sermon starts. I know what some of you are thinking...but she's never heard her grandfather preach so it's not his fault (maybe next weekend). Her favorite part is communion when everyone starts walking around.
On the home front, Hailey will still be making her first trip back to Maryland next weekend and staying for two whole weeks while Brad is in Florida. Aunt Heather is flying down on Friday to help Missy with the car ride, but they won't be leaving until Sunday morning. Hailey is looking forward to meeting everyone.
Week #5 is in the books...Hailey made an unplanned trip to the Doctor's office on Monday to get some questions answered. Turns out she has been diagnosed with Colic. After switching formulas and trying some different things, we've learned to manage some of her "fussy" spells. Some days are better than others, but she's doing her best.
On a more positive note, she's starting to eat a little bit more at each feeding...which we hope will lead to more sleep at night. We're also starting to notice her respond to a lot more, including an occasional smile when you play with her.
Amy and baby Jake stopped by on Thursday for a play date. There wasn't much "playing" however the two of them were able to meet for the first time. Jake is three weeks younger than Hailey. We are sure the two of them will grow to be great friends. The dad's have made one rule already...they can not date until they are 30!
Missy has been having fun with the camera while Brad is at work...so we've been trying to capture the perfect picture. Facing the camera, with eyes open, and a smile is very hard to manage for some reason. Anyway, I picked out a few of the better attempts and added them today.
On a side note, we've started to pull some of the older pictures off the website to make room for more recent shots. Let us know if you want copies of any of these pics before they go away and we'll try to accomodate.
Happy Easter everybody...Hailey now has three weeks behind her and everything is going great. We had another visit from Missy's family this weekend. MomMom and Pop Jordan visited for the second time and the entire Davis family also made the trip. Hailey had a great time with her two "girl" cousins. Amy M also joined everyone for Easter Sunday dinner(thanks for my 4 helpings of desert).
Everyone has been commenting on how fast Hailey is changing...it feels like we won't have a little girl for long. Hailey's personality is also starting to show. She has been awake much more often and responding to voices. We're even making a little progress with her nightime routines, but she loves to keep us on our toes.
