Stories 1/19/07 10:21 pm Beau, Judson, and I went grocery shopping yesterday. I was so worried about how Beau was going to be at the store, but he was an angel! On the way there, I was explaining to him that he needed to be a good boy for mommy and that we couldn't open anything we put in our cart until we got home. He must have understood because he didn't whine or fuss one time to open anything! Usually he wanted to eat everything right as soon as I put it in the cart but didn't understand that we had to pay for it first. We even went through the toy isles ( I know I'm crazy right?) but he was even good there too! He did spot a big Blue's Clues coloring book that I let him hold for a while while we shopped but then when we put it back, he was great. Well, this probably sounds so silly to everyone but you have no idea how happy and pleased I was with our trip to the store! When we got through the check out lane, he did want to get out of the cart, but he stayed right with me and smiled at all the people. It's fun to see him react to all the attention he gets when we're out. Judson has not been sleeping well the past few nights. So, obviously neither have I. I think he's still so stuffed up from his cold, that he can't breathe very well. So today I gave him a breathing treatment like the ones we used to have to give Beau when he was young. Hopefully if I keep doing it, it will losen up everything inside of him so he can get it out. We are so excited to go on our cruise to Cozumel (sp?) in February. We are so thankful that Gramee and Grampee Lott are going to watch the boys for us so we can relax just the two of us! I'm hoping to get Judson really comfortable with taking a bottle so he won't have a hard time when I leave. I also want him to not get too comfortable because I'd like to still be able to nurse him when I get back. Hopefully that will all work out. 1/17/07 12:42 pm Yesterday, Tim was going through the alphabet with Beau one letter at a time. He repeated all the letters almost perfectly but every time we got to the letter "R", Beau would say "Cars"! Tim would say, "No, say AAARRRR" and Beau would say. "CAARRRS." It was too cute. This morning Beau came busting through our bedroom door riding Thomas! Tim had already left for work and Judson and I were sleeping in bed. (Judson always ends up in our bed anywhere from 5:00-6:30 every morning) Beau shouted,"Hi" and wanted us to get up. Thankfully, it was at 9:00! Let's just hope he doesn't start getting up at 6:00 and doing that! I really need to start going to bed earlier! It's just so hard when you finally have the house all to yourselves, the boys are in bed, and it's nice and quiet, you don't want it to end! 1/14/07 11:59 pm Today was absolutely beautiful! It was over 70 degrees here in the middle of January! We enjoyed the fresh warm breeze coming through the windows. It felt like summer. We took the boys for a stroll this afternoon. I thought it might be good for Beau to get some fresh air. He seemed a little better today. The red rings he had all around his eyes were not quite as bad and he was a little happier today. His poor little nose and above his lip is red and raw. I wish I could make him all better. It's so sad seeing him not want to play with his toys or eat the things he usually loves. Now Judson's getting it too. Oh dear, one of these days we will all be healthy at the same time! I stayed home from church with the boys today and just finished laying them down for naps when Tim got home after church this morning. So, we were hanging out on the computer back in our bedroom so we wouldn't wake them up by being too noisy. Pretty soon we here a noice out in the livingroom. A few seconds later we hear...pitter patter pitter patter running down the hallway coming towards our bedroom. Then we see little fingers wiggling through the hole in our door (where a doorknob would normally be, only ours is broken). Surprise! It was Beau. He had climbed out of his crib, then opened his bedroom door which was latched and came and found us! All without us hearing anything on the baby monitor we have sitting next to our bed! I guess we have a little David Copperfield on our hands. I better start shopping for a toddler bed and also some safety latches for our door knobs!
1/12/07 9:48 pm Judson did so good at getting his pictures taken today. He fell asleep in the truck on the way over there and I had to spend a good 5 minutes trying to wake him up after we got there! Poor little guy, he was out like a light! Anyways, he woke up and was a sweet happy boy for his pictures. Then he was out again on the way home! Getting your pictures taken is alot of work when you're 6 months old! Poor Beau is sooo sick! He looks absolutely terrible! His eyes are all red and puffy and his voice is all raspy. I just hate taking him to the doctor because I think he is allergic to antibiotics. They seem to make him much worse every time he has been on them. Just pray that he will get better and be himself again. Ok, here is the deal.. I would like to put a password protection on our website but some people have been having trouble getting in with the password. So, I'm going to leave it off for a while and let everyone get a chance to sign up for automatic e-mail updates letting you know that I've updated the website. Once you get one of those emails, you can just click on the link that it will provide for you and it will take you right to our site. That way, you won't have to worry about remembering our username and password. So, if you would like, please sign up for the email updates on the bottom of our home page. There are just too many scary people out there and I can't stand the thought of some strange man or woman taking an interest in our sweet boys. 1/08/07 11:01 pm Beau will be 2 years old one month from today! He is so funny, he makes us laugh all the time! His newest little phrases are, "Get down" , "have it" and "get her". He is pretty consistent with saying please and thank you when he wants something, but he also thinks that he is supposed to say your welcome too. It's too cute. We'll give him something and he'll say, "please", "thank you" and "your welcome" ( your welcome doesn't really sound like your welcome but he is good at getting the syllables and emphasis right ) Beau climbs up on the top of our big leather chair and stands up there just so he can yell "Get Down!" :) He also tried to climb out of his crib tonight when we were putting him to bed. He seemed to do it like he had practiced many times! That was the first time we saw him do that. I guess it will be any day now that I hear him knocking on his bedroom door or playing with his toys in the morning when he has woken up and gotten out of bed! Maybe Tim and I should get him a toddler bed for his birthday. Judson is starting to show us a little bit of his personality. He is such a sweet little guy and also has a little silly side starting to come out. He thinks Beau is hilarious when he shows Judson his muscles! He laughs so hard every time. He loves to smile and laugh and also loves to be held all the time! He has been doing good at starting baby food. He loves bananas but doesn't care so much for carrots. Hmmm.. sounds a little like his daddy. We are going to get his 6 month pictures taken pretty soon. Also, I keep forgetting to get him in for his 6 month checkup. I'll put all the stats on here when we get that done. 1/07/07 11:30 pm Congratulations Josh and Misty on the birth of your precious baby boy! We have been praying for little Andrew and we're so glad he arrived healthy and full term and didn't come out several weeks ago when he wanted to! You can check out baby Andrew's website along with Josh, Misty, and his sisters Emma and Gracie http://www.babyhomepages.net/beutow .
Well, I'm pretty proud of myself right now for just building shelves in our bathroom! We had that akward space between our wall and our shower and it turned out to be quite a large storage place for towels and stuff! Tim helped me a little bit getting the right drill bits and showing me the correct way to use the drill but now I feel like I could build a house! Ok, maybe I'll just tackle a couple other small projects first. :) 1/05/07 10:36 pm I'm so sorry I am just now getting all our Christmas pictures from PA on here! The days just slip away from me! We had a great time visiting all the Lott family in PA. Beau really enjoyed Christmas this year. I'm sure Judson will enjoy Christmas a little more next year. Anyways, every time Beau was opening a present he would yell, "Thomas!" or "Toys!" or "Wow!". Tim and I agreed that it is so much more fun watching your child enjoy Christmas and opening presents than it is for us to open presents! I have had a couple friends come over the last few days and help me get organized! We have gone through closets, cleaned out old clothes, washed tons of clothes, got all our Christmas stuff put away, and rearranged furniture! It has been so helpful and you just feel better all around when you have a clean and organized house! They each have a baby so they understand how easy it is to get behind with household chores. We have a great time getting things done while the kids play. Yesterday I took the boys to the gym with me since Judson turned 6 months old and can now be allowed in the gym daycare. Beau had a blast and ran right in and started playing. I was a little worried he would cry when I left him, but he didn't even turn around to see if I was still there with him. That was a nice little break for mommy and the boys! We will have to make that a daily routine. (or at least every other day)
12/21/06 10:00 pm This evening we had our own little family Christmas and opened up all our presents from all my family up north! (and Texas!) We had so much fun! We played Christmas music and had little smokies, shrimp, and sparkling cider. Thank you so much everyone for all our presents! We all got spoiled! Tomorrow we are driving up to Pennsylvania for Christmas with Tim's family. We are excited to see everyone up there! We haven't seen all the Lott family since Thanksgiving last year. We hope everyone has a very merry Christmas! 12/20/06 Oh my goodness, the joys and frustrations of being a mother! Mom, if you're reading this, I'm sooooo sorry for ever whining, crying, screaming, hitting, throwing, or fussing during my whole childhood! This journal entry is dedicated to all the other mothers out there whose laundry room is so full of clothes they can't see the floor, whose shoulders are so tight with knots they can't turn their heads, whose coffee table has crayon scribbled all over it, whose idea of pampering is just getting to take a shower and put on makeup in the morning, whose VCR has crackers stuffed in it, and last but not least, whose too tired to go to the store so they have to use their kid's Dora the Explorer toothpaste when theirs runs out! When having children and attempting to raise them, every day is a learning experience! I have decided to start being on a daily schedule/ routine. I'm going to try to get the kids up, get dressed, eat breakfast, lunch, snack, play, go for walks, feed the dog, etc... at the same time every day. I think that would help Beau alot. He seems to like routines and to know what's going to happen next. He does not like to just sit around with no plans! He is like Tim, always has to be doing something. Well, just when I think I'm the only mother going through these things, I read my cousin Rebekah's journal entry on her kid's website! Oh, if only we could all get together for little support groups! She was good to remind me that all the craziness that goes along with being a mother is so worth it. So bring on the toys in the toilet, the peanut butter on the kitchen floor (and the dog's ears) , the raisins in my shoe, and all the other little surprises we find during the day. Because there's nothing in the world like being a mom and getting kisses (slimy ones with boogers) and hugs, and hearing your child try to pronounce the words " I love you". At the end of the day, no matter how many times you've been hit with plastic golf clubs, or had your hair pulled out by the fist full by your 5 month old, you take pride knowing that only you can put that look in their eyes, that says, "You're my hero." p.s you guys can now enter your e-mail address to have this website notify you when I update it. 12/17/06 Yesterday we took the boys to Dollywood. (Dolly Parton's theme park) It started out pretty good but Beau was not feeling good and so after an hour or two he had had enough. Judson loved the carasol but Beau didn't really enjoy it very much. He did however enjoy the big train ride we went on. He especially loved it when the train "whooshed" and "weeshed" it's steam out. (as Thomas would say) Beau kept calling it Toby and Thomas. It was a "Steamy" not a "Diesel". There was a big toy shop with a ton of Thomas the Train stuff in it so we avoided a disaster by not going in! We had funnel cake with strawberries and whipped cream before heading home. There was the neatest designated nursing area for nursing mothers. It was a cozy little haven for all the nursing moms with gliders and changing tables and it was decorated so cute! It's about time someone thinks of the nursing moms! I hate going into bathroom stalls to feed Judson! I stayed home with the boys this morning because Beau has a nasty cough still and we don't want to get other little kids in his nursery sick. We probably shouldn't have taken him out yesterday even though it was a beautiful day. The evening got a little chillier than we were prepared for. 12/16/06 12:12 am
Thank you Rebekah for the web address to Haakon's website! Hope ya'll can check out Haakon and his little sister Marit! http://seeger.aboutmybaby.com 12/16/06 10:00 am Just writing a quick note to wish Haakon a very very Happy 2nd Birthday today! He is the boys' cousin and such a cutie pie! Check out his website at www.aboutmybaby.com look for Haakon Seeger. (Ok, I just checked and you can't get in the website unless you have a password so I'll get the info. and then post it on here.) 12/15/06 11:57 am They boys are napping! I find myself overwhelmed with things that I want to get done while they are both sleeping. Hhmmm... should I finally take a shower, clean up the house, update the website, do some laundry, or try to lay down and take a nap too! Well, today I opted for updating the website. I'm sorry I didn't have any pictures of Beau on my camera! I will make sure I get some new ones of him too. Beau is such a ham! He is so silly and growing more like a typical little boy every day! He does have a nasty cough but other than that, seems to be feeling good. His newest food loves are string mozzerella cheese and chocolate pudding. He also loves cereal just about as much as I do. Every morning when I get him up he heads to the kitchen and says cereal. I have to confess, Beau had pepsi yesterday. We met daddy for lunch at the mall and Beau got to have some pepsi with pizza. I was hoping he wouldn't like it. Oh well, we'll have to make sure we don't make a habit out of that. We have found a house that we're really interested in. It seems to have everything that was on our list of "must-haves" . Pray that if it's the right house for us, everything will work out and go smoothly with selling ours and all that fun stuff! 12/08/06 We have had a guy from our church come over the last few days and finish our wood floors for us! They are almost done! Just a little trim work and it will finally all be over! Poor Tim, tried so hard but I think we learned our lesson. No more laminate wood flooring unless we have it professionally installed! It turned out to be quite a lot more work than we thought! Well, once we get our floors finished we can start to think about listing our house on the market! We have been praying about finding another place with a little more room for these boys! We are outgrowing our house and I have to say it will be kind of sad to leave it! We had both our boys here and have 3 years of wonderful memories here. Well, I hope everyone is doing well! We are enjoying this winter season but boy, is it getting cold!
12/05/06 Well, another day has gone by and here I am sitting in bed updating this website and I just have to say I am so blessed. I have a sweet and loving husband and two healthy boys! The only other thing I would like is to be a little closer to all our family but, I know this is where God wants us right now and we are happy here. We miss you all and look forward to going up to PA for Christmas! There better lots of snow! :) 12/03/06 I just had to write a quick note about our eventful night here at the house. After church tonight we were playing with Beau in our living room when we noticed him starting to fill his diaper. Well, he kept working on it for a while and before we knew it, there were piles of poop all over the floor! It had somehow overflowed his diaper and came down his leg and all over the floor! We're not just talking about little drips here and there, we're talking PILES of poo poo! It was the craziest thing we had ever seen. Poor Beau got scared when we were taking off his clothes and trying to clean him up enough to stick him in the tub. We kept screaming every time more poop would get on us! :) I've never had so much poop on me in my life! Oh the stories we can tell him when he gets older! Beau kept saying "poop" "poop" , "pee yoo", and "whoo yee". On a different note, Beau can count to ten now. He has a little trouble with the numbers 4 and 8 so he usually replaces them with another 2 or 3. :) Well, I better go and try to air out the house some more. It's still pretty stinky in here. Hope ya'll are having a good night! 12/02/06 Beau was soooo good today! He was so sweet and helpful and acted just like an angel all day! He was loading me up with kisses and says "love you!" Days like today make up for 100 bad days! He had fun playing at the nursery while mommy went to the ladies Christmas brunch at the Radisson hotel today. He was there from 9:30-1:00 so by the time I got him home, he was tuckered out and ready for a nap! Beau's favorite things to do now are brush his teeth, take bubble baths, play outside and look at Christmas lights, and of course play with all his little Thomas the train and friends! He understands so much. He tries to repeat everything we say but even if he can't say the words yet, I know he understands just about everything we say. When we pray, he's so good at folding his hands and he says "Mamen!" at the end. It's so sweet. Jud is growing growing growing and pretty soon will start eating baby food. He wanted my icecream bar so bad tonight! I gave him a little taste and after that he kept trying to grab it and stuff it in his mouth. The college girls that were working in the nursery today had fun making Judson laugh and video taping him. 12/01/06 Happy December everybody! I want to thank all of you for all your sweet and encouraging e-mails and letters about disciplining and raising children! I have gotten lots of advice and things I am going to try with Beau. Today, our power went out at about 6:00 am and it was out all day! Man, I really take electricity for granted! It came back on about 7:00 this evening. We went over to Dan and Heidi's house for a while because they didn't lose their power. Beau demonstrated his newest "thing" of how he wanted me to hold him and cried if I didn't. It took a while but after some talking and a few firm but friendly spankings, he was fine and then proceeded to play with his toys I brought for him. Tim is out of town to be in a friend's wedding this weekend. He will be coming home late tomorrow night. We miss daddy! 11/27/06 Ok, today I am seeking advice from all the other mothers (and fathers)out there!(young and old!) I feel like I'm at my wit's end with Beau and his behavior! Today we were at Target and I had to carry him the whole time. (He would not walk or sit in the cart) I could not even rest his weight on the handle of the cart or he would cry. So, carrying Beau, pushing Judson in the cart, and trying to get some shopping done was not easy. Needless to say, we were not there very long. So here's the question I have for you..... Do I stop right there and spank him in Target? If yes, you realize then we will have about 10-20 minutes of non stop loud crying. Spanking Beau just fuels the fire more than anything. He just gets more upset and cries louder. Which would be ok with me if there wasn't other people in the store! If no, does that teach him that he can get away with what he wants by whining and fussing? I find myself just doing whatever I have to do to get him to be quiet and not make a big scene! I know that's not the right thing to do but otherwise I would never be able to leave the house. (which we hardly do anyways because of situations like this!) Beau does not like spankings (obviously, what kid does?) Even after trying to explain the best we can in his words what the spanking is for and why he's getting one, he never seems to learn his lesson or understand that his behavior is not acceptable! It just makes him more mad. The target thing is just an example but he does this pretty much everywhere we go. He even does it at home. Especially on Tuesdays when I am trying to give violin lessons. It's almost like he's got some emotional problems but I just don't understand why. Tim and I try so hard to be good parents and be consistent with him. We never yell or fight and even if we have an arguement, it's not around Beau at all. He should feel so loved and feel like he's got such a stable home and environment! I could understand him wanting to cling to me and be close to me if I worked or didn't see him much during the day, but I am with him all day long every day. Well, please keep us in your prayers. It's really becoming difficult just doing daily tasks and errands. You can post your replies on here or e-mail me at kelseylott@yahoo.com Thanks!
11/22/06 Wednesday Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! I hope everyone will be enjoying a Thanksgiving day full of love, warmth, family, and friends! We wish we could be there with all our family but we will be tucked away in our Knoxville home having ham, mashed potatoes, apple pie and other nummy food! Kisses and love from all of us! p.s Beau is such a little blessing to us but recently we have been having quite a time with him and his temper! I could really use your prayers so that I can be a wonderful mommy and have the patience I need to raise him to be a good, sweet boy! He has been unusually naughty and trying and testing my patience every day. Hopefully this is just a little streak he's going through and by the time he's 2, he will be an angel! :) Oh, he's not a terrible boy by any means but I know if we don't start now with training him and not letting him get away with naughty things, we are going to be in for it later on! He is so precious though and we are soooo thankful to have this little boy in our family! Pray that we will help him grow to be as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside!
