Stories Our baby boy is now two!! It is amazing to look back through these pictures and see him grow from newborn to toddler in such a short time. He is a precious boy and still a little cuddler. We thank God for blessing us with our Landon Alexander. We need to work on Landon's singulars and plurals. Instead of Momma and Daddy, he calls us Mommas and Daddys. It is really cute though. Now that Landon has discovered talking, he doesn't see the need to use one word at a time. He uses entire phrases. He said yesterday "I don't want that" when we tried to give him pizza. And today he asked "Is that too hot?" when we gave him some chicken nuggets. He totally cracks us up! Landon has always been obsessive-compulsive about shutting doors, but he has discovered the microwave which has a door, and a button to make the door open. He drags the step-stool from the bathroom to the kitchen and sets it in front of the counter with the microwave. Then he proceeds to open and slam the door shut. Recently he has taken it to another level of using it as a hoarding spot. I couldn't find my keys the other day and had about given up when I thought to check the microwave. In the microwave I found my keys in a cup, a matchbox car, can of peaches and sippy cup. I have to keep the microwave unplugged for fear of him blowing up the house with the treasures he stores in there. Oh the insanity! If you give Landon a banana or a granola bar or anything that he has to hold while he is eating, he only eats it to the part where his hand is covering it. He will always hand you the last little bit that was in his hand and WILL NOT eat it! Strange child!! Landon is obsessed with keys. If he sees keys in your hand, he must have them. He likes to unlock car doors whether he is using the right key or not. It is his favorite word too. Keys keys keys!! We had the boys decorate Easter eggs tonight, and they had an absolute blast. They colored on them with crayons, covered them with stickers, shrink wrapped on some different sports balls, and their favorite: dunked them in a rainbow of dyes. We maybe gave them a little too much liberty in this area, because the dye ended up all over their hands and trays, but they had a lot of fun!! We visited the waterfall that is about two miles away from our house. It is so pretty around here! Landon had a great time throwing rocks into the little pool at the base of the waterfall. I would have liked to do a little rock climbing, but Brent was afraid the whole wall of rock would topple onto us, so we put it off for a different location for now. Landon has turned into a little sponge! He is learning new things every day. He can tell you where most of his facial features are, and has three times the vocabulary already. Unfortunately he has started squeaking when he wants something. It is girl worthy! We will get him to stop soon though because that high pitch could drive anybody nuts. Well, for those of you who don't know--we moved to Tennessee! The boys have made the transition very well, and don't really seem to act like they noticed any difference. Our new house is situated between two mountains, and has a little stream going through the backyard. They love the weather here, as it is spring in full force whereas it is still in the 30's in Michigan. There has been an explosion of words in Landon's vocabulary. He says Momma, Daddy, good job, hello, bye, yay, hi, I love you, go, thank you, juice, he can tell you what a cow and puppy say, and a few more that I can't remember. There is a lot less frustration in the communication area now that I can understand some of what he is saying :) Whenever you make the kissing sound to Landon, he bends forward and offers you his forehead for a kiss! How precious is that?? Manners are very important to Landon. He only has three words in his vocabulary so far: Mama, Dada, and Thank you. He is so very polite, as he says thank you whenever you hand him something. And if he forgets, all you have to say is "What do you say?" and he will immediately say thank you. The nursery ladies stuff him full of cookies each church time just so they can hear him say it over and over again! We have kind of started a tradition by taking pictures in front of the same tree every fall. It always has the most brilliant colors when it changes and makes a perfect photo opportunity (as if I needed another excuse to take pictures of the kids!!) Landon finally took his first steps. Most of the time he makes sure someone is watching when he takes off--he really enjoys all of the praise. I have been ready for him to walk for quite awhile now--he is too heavy to carry around anymore!!! Landon has been on the verge of walking for quite a while now, but I think he is having fun teasing us. Last night I got him on video standing up in the middle of the floor, then dropping to his knees eight or nine times in a row, laughing and giggling hysterically. I missed Lance's first steps on video so I am trying really hard to get Landon's, but I think he knows I only have so much video time and he is going to run it all up, then take off running as soon as the camcorder is turned off! I know I have said it before, but Landon is really really REALLY obsessed with shutting doors! He will shut you in the door if you don't get out of the way. Cupboard doors, closet doors, drawers, screen doors, bedroom doors--don't get in his way!!
So many teeth in such a short time! Poor Landon! Poor us!! Landon has five teeth and another one trying to poke through. He is always chewing on his fingers and his face is all broken out from drooling constantly. I am hoping he gets a little break from all the teething because I would like my good-natured and happy baby back! We went to McNearney Lake with the family for a week of "R and R." The first few days were nice and relaxing, just hanging out on the beach, jetskiing, taking pontoon boat rides around the lake and stuffing ourselves silly. Landon was chasing a ball around on the beach and followed it right into the lake! He wasn't phased at all, but loved the water! We put hime in a floating toy and he kicked his legs and laughed the whole time. We could hardly get him out of the water! We went to Taquamanon Falls with the Sharkey/Koontz clan, and when they left, the Figg family came up and we went to Paradise for icecream, Whitefish Point for the Shipwreck Museum, Newberry for Oswald's Bear Ranch where one of the bear cubs licked Landon's feet, and several other places. We were so busy! But we had a great time seeing all the family and just being away from the daily grind. Our baby boy is a whole year now! We celebrated his birthday several times with friends and family, and enjoyed his cake eating. It was colorful to say the least! Blue frosting in his eyes, ears, nose, hair--anywhere he could smear it! But he had a great time. He also received many nice gifts, so thanks to everyone!!
