Back to Work:

Well we are getting closer to August at which point Mackenzie will be off to school- I'm sure that will be alot of cool new stories!  But for the next 6 weeks (June 2- July 11) Kyle has taken a part time job at MedVance (A medical assistants/nursing college) to teach math.  MJ will be hanging out with Nanny for a few hours Monday through Thursday and it should be fun for both.  Kyle also has a job interview with a local high school for next year when MJ does go back to school so wish me luck!  Jim has been a running fool ever since his race across the state and just this morning ran 10 miles (UGH).  Other than the fact that it's getting really hot to be running it is going really well.  Hope everyone can say the same!

Surgery Update:

For those that didn't know, I had to have surgery on my arm after a biopsy of a mole came back icky.  I had 7 stitches and they should come out next Thursday.  It seems to be healing up nicely even with a nice indent where my skin used to be- they couldn't do that along the whole arm and make me lose some of the flab?  Anyway, Ant Linda also had surgery hers a bit more recent- yesterday.  They found a large tumor on her kidney (malignant) and have removed one kidney.  We are still waiting for them to biopsy the kidney and make sure all the edges are clean (the same thing they are doing with my much smaller piece and the edges have come back clean- WooHoo).  Provided the edges are clean it means the cancer hasn't spread and she should be fine and not have to undergo anything more drastic.  So please keep your fingers crossed! 

What We've Been Up To!

Wow, the last two months have flown by. After Mackenzies birthday Easter was upon us.  We had a great Easter that started with finding our Easter baskets.  MJ really loved playing hot and cold to find her basket (I'm glad that she didn't ask how we knew where it was!).  After the basket finding we loaded up our gear and headed out on the kayaks.  We went over to secret beach where the "Easter Bunny" hid eggs for Mackenzie, Josie, Jade, Emma, Jordan, and Kyle (not me).  Josie and Jade are two of the princesses from her birthday party and the other three kids are Alli's nieces and nephew.  So after a wonderful morning brunch and egg hunt on the beach it was time to come home and start cooking up a wonderful Easter dinner.  Yum.  So after Easter came Jims Sunrise 2 Sunset Relay Race across the coast of Florida.  He did great.  His team came in 2nd in their division and 22nd/43 overall.  Checkout http://sunrise2sunsetrelay.com to read more about it.  After that it was my turn to hop on the crazy train and I signed up for an adventure race with Sue.  The race is not a typical race in the fact that you don't know anything about the course until about 10 minutes prior to the start when they give you a map!   http://www.lakeosurvivorseries.com is the website for this race to see more about it.  You can also find the video on youtube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdXSFrlhl3c    On the same day that I adventure raced, Jim ran a 7 mile race for the corn.  He placed 1st in his division and 12th overall out of about 120 people.  He ran 7 miles in 54 minutes.  He was a little dissapointed as his goal was 51 minutes but he started with a 6:30 first mile and that might have tired him out a bit!   Mackenzie has been super busy with gymnastics class and playing with her friends.  A few days ago she even got to feed a giant bird...In our garage.  He just came waltzing in to say hi!  Kenzie has been biking, running, and hiking right along with Mom and Dad and she seems to love it.  Of course, not as much as she loves stopping to pick, smell, and otherwise destroy the flowers!  Other than that, I've started my own video editing company- http://www.digitalarrangements.com  and am trying to get word of mouth going so if you know anyone getting married or having a big party or event- pass my site along!   More Pictures coming soon and links to videos as well!  Hope all is well with everyone.  We would love to hear from you!

Talking up a Storm
She is still a talking fool but now she is into spelling too.  She loves the idea that each letter has a sound and that when you put them together it makes things.  Her favorite questions now center around "How do you spell..." 

 Wow, she can say anything now. She is speaking full sentences and can say pretty much anything at will. Of course, if you want her to say it she refuses!  She gets very grumpy if you don't understand her and will keep saying things over and over until you acknowledge her.

5/28/08:  "Hi, I'm Mackenzie and I'll be your servant tonight"  She was serving the green beans at dinner.  She does like being allowed to scoop things with the serving utensils.

4/22/08:  MJ said: "Mommy it's cold in here.  I know how to say cold in Spanish...Chilly"

4/21/08:  Mackenzie and Daddy went to pick up a fish from a friend on the dock.  Daddy said, "what do you think we should name it" (I'm not sure why he was naming a dead fish but...) "Do you think we should call him jack since he's an amberjack"  After seeing the filleting, Mackenzie replied "I think we should call him garbage since thats where he belongs!"

4/12/08:  "Mom is that a medal for your race with a crocodile head?"  After seeing the trophy for my adventure race. 

4/1/08:  "Hey Alli, A B A B what comes next?"  Alli replied with the ever clear answer of elevator to which MJ said "No Alli, it's a letter pattern which letter comes next?"

2/15/08:  She sneaks into the bedroom and gets right up in your ear and yells "Cockle Doodle Doo".  Thanks for teaching her that one Jim!

11/25/07:  While watching the movie Cars-  Jim said to her "That's Lightning McQueen".  MJ replied "No Daddy, that car is actually called cars"

11/20/07:  "What color was it Mommy?  Was it Pink?  Yellow?  Blue?  Tangerine?" 

11/18/07:  While jumping on her new big girl bed it was remarked that MJ had ants in her pants.  She proceeded to rip off her pants and run around slapping at her naked butt all the while yelling  "Get them out, Get them out, I don't want ants in my pants!"

11/15/07:  Look Mommy my tatoo didn't come off in the shower.   Now I can keep it forever just like Sissy! (Talking about her temporary pony tatoo - Thanks Grandma!)

11/1/07  As MJ and I are walking to the bathroom at the restaurant she yells  "Hey Hey You we're going to go pee pee"  She said this to the random waiter who was preping something as we walked by.  Then as we continue the walk she says "Hey Mommy that girl looks just like me.  Those people look just like us"  We were walking toward the bathroom and the end wall was a large mirror. 

10/23/07  "Do we really get to go to "Salamis" class today?"  (Asking if we were going to gymnastics class with her new friend Leilani!)

10/13/07  "Wow Chicken Little got real big"(after seeing Chicken Little)

5/26/07"  MJ and Daddy were heading out to the store. 

Mommy asked "Are you going to stop and get I-C-E C-R-E-A-M? " 

MJ "What's that spell?  What does I -C -R-M spell?  Does that spell Ice cream?  Does it?

Uh-Oh it may almost be the end of the spelling era!

5/21/07:  "I wan't some more of that lemon kool-aid that makes my poops soft please"  Asking for miralax that she is required to have for 6 weeks because she is constipated and won't poop. (Anyone know anythig about this?) However, Any kid that is asking for poo juice is just pitiful!

5/14/07:  In a restaurant:  "My mommy gives me m and m's, i mean menamas, I mean enemas.  My mommy gives me enemas cause my poops hurt" All of this said at an increasing level of volume.  I think as MJ's voice got louder Mommy shrunk lower and lower in the booth saying Shhush!

4/16/07:  MJ: "My name is Kenzie Jude.  You spell that M...J...that spells me.  I live on earth.  Who are you?"  This was said all in one breath.  This was her introducing herself to a new friend of Mom and Dads.

4/13/07: MJ was in her room for a time out.  We heard all this banging and I went in her room and asked "What are you doing young lady?"  Mackenzie replied- "I'm trying to get up there" and points to the top of her door.  "I don't want to be in here so I am gettting the key up there".   We keep a key on the top of the door frame so when she looks the door we can get out!

4/14/07:  MJ:  "I want to bring three oranges." 

Dad-"Where are you bringing oranges honey?"

MJ:  "To Buffalo.  I'm bringing three oranges for grandpa"

Dad-"Why are you bringing oranges to grandpa?"

MJ:  "Because he can juggle silly!  I'm bringing oranges to grandpa cause he 's a good juggler."

4/10/07:  "I need to go back to the Dragons Cave Daddy" (After Daddy dropped the phone on her head.  The Dragons cave was what we called the CAT Scan machine!)

3/17/07:  MJ- "I'm in my three little pigs house" (she was sitting on the footrest of the bar)

Mommy- "Why is that your three little pgs house honey?"

MJ-"It's made of wood Kyle"

1/20/07:  "I'm not gonna run my race, Mommy.   I'm gonna win it." (When asked if she wanted to run a race)

12/11/06:  "Christmas is gonna love this"  (I think Christams and Santa are synonomous to her!)

12/1106:  "Yes I sure is"  (when asked if she was poopying in her panties)

11/15/06:  "You're pushing me bonkers Mom" (I have been known to say that people are driving me bonkers while I am driving.  MJ got a little confused and as I was pushing her in the stroller...)

9/13/06: "Turn the dark off, Grandpa" (Asking Grandpa to turn the light on!)
7/6/10: "You Got Tiger on You, You got Birdie on You, You got Butterfly on You..." ( Pointing out to our friend, Melanie, what was on her shirt)

4/13/06: "PIget has the most balloons"- After looking in her coloring book with Piglet having three balloons, tiger had two and Pooh Bear had one!

4/3/06: "my turn, my turn, my turn" (anytime that she wants to do something that someone else is doing"
3/27/06: "I doan wan Dora pants" (We tried to introduce the pull-up diapers with Dora on them. She obviously wasn't intersted!)

3/20/06: "I cowored toes" (After she managed to get a hold of a marker and color just about every part of her body!)
3/12/06: " I love Me" (After Mommy and Daddy came home from the Keys and said "I love you" to MJ)
3/7/06: "I See Bens...1 Ben, 2 Ben, 5 Bens...Cousins" ( After seeing her cousins picture.
3/1/06: "Jumpin. I Jumpin...PEAS" ( After walking past a trampoline at the fun center- And of course, how do you say no when she said PLEASE!)
"2/20/06: "Uh-Oh, My fork. I need my fork" (After dropping her fork in the middle of dinner!)
2/14/06: "Monkey get baby" (While watching the beginning of Tarzan- She was extremely upset when the leopard tried to get Tarzan!)
