Happy 2010! Maddy is growing like a weed and changing every time you look at her. She is as verbal as the day is long and has quite the personality developing. Maddy still loves Little Einsteins and is now loving Dora the Explorer too. We are finding it very hard to believe that our baby girl will be 2 in just over a month!

Right after the last story, Maddy started walking and it has been non stop movement ever since. She is doing great and is in the process of cutting the remainder of her teeth- all at the same time!
We've had a busy couple months. After Bud was here in August we took Maddy to Erie to see Auntie Maggie and Uncle Jason and her best buddy Ella. It was a quick trip, but fun none the less.
After a busy few weeks at work Maddy and I drove to Philly to meet Mom and Dad. Originally it was just going to be the 3 girls, but at the last minute dad was able to come and Maddy and I were both super excited! It was a good thing because Maddy's attention span at Independence Hall left something to be desired and Dad spent the entire tour walking up and down the hall with Maddy. Aside from nearly slamming the huge wooden doors to the room where the Declaration of Independence was signed- Maddy was an angel. Among Maddy's firsts on this trip were- an extended overnight stay in a hotel, swimming in a hotel pool, a horse and buggy ride (she fell asleep), and a mommy only road trip!
Two weeks after our afventure in Philly- Mom, Dad, and Bud flew down to take Maddy to her first Red Sox game. Chad had a bachelor party to go to so he couldn't go with us, but other than that we had a great time. Grammy bought Maddy a Red Sox back pack to take her stuff to the game in and she was a great little girl once again. Maddy fell asleep on Grammy's shoulder and slept through 5 innings of the game and watched cartoons the whole way home. Once we got home she went right to sleep, only to wake up at 6 AM with Grampy and Uncle Matt the next morning. (Mommy got to sleep in the entire time they were here because Grampy was in Maddy's room before I even heard her peep)
This weekend we are going to Apple Festival in Greencastle and taking Maddy to Lake Tobias- a wildlife park outside of Harrisburg. Maddy loves animals and we anticiapte having a great time with her! Maddy is also going through a phase where she insists on sleeping with one of her copies of Goodnight Moon. It's cute until she throws a fit in the morning because she can't take it to school with her. We are also starting to put Maddy on the potty, as she is starting to show an interest.
Among Maddy's new words/phrases are:
Tubby, Grampy, Chad, Polo, Moon, House, Mouse, Cat, Car, Water, Kids, MaKena (her cousin, sounds more like Kenna), Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Mickey, Leo, June, Annie, Quincy, I get it, Sticker, Blankie, Glowie, Book, Apple, Elmo (actually sounding like Elmo now instead of Memo), Button, Up, Eat, Help, Color, Blue, I go bye bye, Toys, Shoes, and so much more.
Her 18 month check up is in a couple weeks, but she is starting to wear 24 month clothing and size 5 shoes. I am willing to bet she has gained at least a pound and has grown taller too. She is really starting to look like a little girl and we are loving every second of her!

It's been awhile, but it's been a busy summer. We've gone to the beach, had company, and gone on a trip tp Maine! Bud is here now and we are relishing what down time we get because fall will be here and summe will be gone before you know it.
At Maddy's 15 month check up she was 31.25" tall and weighed 22 pounds 7 ounces. The pediatrician was impressed with her social and cognitive skills and said not to worry too much about her not walking yet as she just might be taking her time. Right now she is trucking behind a push toy and will pull herself up on anything and loves walking holding on to your hand. All in due time...
Among Maddy's words / phrases are:
Mommy, Daddy, Mama, Dada, Pappy, Robo, Doggy, Uh-oh, Ball, Duck, Moo, Car, Rocket, Milk, More, Cup, Yes, Please (sounds more like peas), No, Balloon, Cookie, Cracker, Go, Bye-bye, Blast off, Pat, Car, Banana, Juice, Turtle, Hello, Lipstick.
I am sure there are more. Our child talks a blue streak- obviously something she gets from her father. When she is not speaking in audible words she is babbling incoherently, quite amusing to all around!
Next weekend we are treking to Erie to see Maggie, Jason, and Ella. Tonight I asked Maddy who she was going to see next week and she said "Lella". So adorable- can't wait to see them together again!

Happy almost mother's day! Chad and I took Maddy to Gettysburg today. We went to Boyd's Bears and then drove around the battlefield for a bit. We went up to Devil's Den and took another picture of Maddy on the cannon- she was much more sedate compared to when Matt and I brought her last year! Weather was nice and we had a good time.
Chad bought Maddy a new book case for her room and put it together this afternoon. We were both happy to get rid of the old rickety one that was in her room before!

What a crazy day already! Work is sheer madness today and this is probably the only break I will get until I leave.
We had a blast in Maine and Mom was so surprised by her party. It was great to be there for more than just 2 days. We ate like pigs and Maddy had her first taste of fried clams! Jill brought Logan up and Maddy and he got to play together for a bit. Maddy was great on the plane and actually hugged mom when they dropped us at the airport- almost like she knew she was leaving!
Maddy now has 4 teeth in and the top middle 2 are almost through. She is crawling all over the place and it is sheer maddness trying to keep track of her. The other day I was getting ready for work and looked over and she had the cord to my phone charger in her mouth- it was still plugged into the wall. Yikes!
All in all she is still a great baby, umm toddler I guess :(

We had a great Easter, although it was a busy one. We dyed eggs at Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ed's and Maddy got to play with her cousin Aidan a lot! Next week we are off to Maine to spend some time with my mom and dad and brother! So excited- Can't wait to go home!

Maddy is cutting 2, possibly 4, teeth right now. She is still sleeping well, but you can tell that she is very uncomfortable and not 100%. You can see two poking through and I think I see 2 more.
Bailey ate a chunk of our rug in the family room and proceeded to throw it all up. Chad is calling the rug place tomorrow to see what they can do to fix it. Needless to say she is in the dog house.
I got a new job last week and start on Monday. Friday is my last day and as each day passes I know I made the right decision.

Maddy had the ultrasound done on her head today. She screamed the entire time (it was nap time) and was not happy that they put the gel on her head. I gave her a bath when we got home and she has been sleeping since (it's now 4:30). I talked to the doctor's office and they said the timing of getting the results back can vary and if I haven't heard back in a week to call. Hopefully we will hear something sooner than that as I really don't want to wait that long to know what's going on.

We had a great time over Maddy's birthday! Mom, Dad, and Bud came down and spent the weekend with us. They got here just before we did her cake and I am so glad Maddy stayed awake and was in a decent mood. Her party was great and we are so happy tha the wather held out as we had 27 people (including babies) in our house. The weekend was short and it was sad when everyone went home, but I am still recovering now.
Maddy's 12 month checkup was last Wednesday. She weighs 19 pounds 13 ounces and is 29.25 inches long. She is perfectly healthy, but her head circumference is still on the large side and they want to make sure everything is OK. Tomorrow I have to take her to get an ultrasound on her head to make sure there is no fluid or swelling. Mom says Matt had the same thing done and it was strictly a precaution as well. They are also concerned that she is not walknig, crawling, or puling herself up yet. So I also have to call an early intervention specialist to see if there is anything else we can be doing to help her along.
No real words yet, but she is pointing at everything- which mom tells me is a language marker. She does say DaDa, sometimes MaMa, and now is working on the ga and na sounds. She loves books and still loves Little Einsteins and is really into playing with Bailey as of late.
I have video of her birthday that I will post as soon as I get it off the camera!

Maddy has been sick all week. She had a fever for 3 days and was really fussy and did not sleep through the night all week. We finally took her to the doctor yesterday and it turns out she has roseola which is an auto immune virus. I guess the virus starts with fever and irritability for three days and then is capped of by a rash on the torso and head (which we noticed at the doctor yesterday). She was fussy last night, but seems to be on the road to recovery. She slept well last night and is already napping again this morning.
I can't believe she is going to be a year old in less than 2 weeks. The year has gone by so fast and it is hard to believe that I was so very pregnant last year at this time. Maddy is the greatest joy and we are so lucky to have her as our baby girl!

Maddy is 11 months old today, I can't believe how fast the year has gone by!
She had a tough time falling asleep last night, which means that Chad and I did as well. I pray that it is just teeth and not some other medical issue about to show its face. Poor kid had such a runny nose this morning that I had to change her outfit 15 minutes after I put it on her because there was goo all over her shirt and juice on her pants. She looked like a little ragga muffin. Let's hope tonight is better.
I just made the appointment to get her 1 year pictures taken. I told the lady that I want to get a couple pictures of all 3 of us. Chad doesn't know that yet, hopefully he will happily comply!

Maddy seems to be doing better, but now it's Chad and I that aren't feeling well. Chad ended up going to the walk in clinic on Sunday and found out that he has strep and got a perscription for an antibiotic. He went to the doctor today because his ear has been drainig and turns out that there is a tiny perforation in his ear drum because he had such a bad ear infection. Now he is on augmentin (same as Maddy), but seems to be feeling better. I woke up this morning feeling crappy, but hoping that it is just a cold and it will pass.
Maddy has really started eating "big girl" food now. It's been almost a week since I have fed her baby food. Last night we did breakfast for supper and had banana pancakes and sausage- she ate almost 2 whole pancakes! I ordered all the decorations and stuff for her birthday party yesterday. I thought I would be able to keep her birthday from coming by just not plannign for a party, but it wasn't working so I decided that I better start planning. I was looking at her as she was in the tub last night and it is hard to believe that she is the same baby we took home from the hospital almost a yeat ago!
January 24, 2009
Maddy is sick, again. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and noticed (as we sat down) that both ears are draining. It's disgusting, but it means the ear tubes are doing their jobs. They looked at her throat and it is red, but didn't do a strep test because they would give her the same medication for her ears. Now the poor baby is on an antibiotic for her throat and ears, drops for her eyes, and (if her ears don't get better in 5 days) drops for her ears. She has been sleeping really well so that's a plus, but the por kid is exhausted during the day too. Right now she is taking her 2nd nap of the day and she took a 3 hour nap this morning. Hopefully the medications will start working and she'll feel better. Lets hope spring gets here quickly!
January 21, 2009
Lets give this another try. I started a page for Maddy before she was born and didn't keep up with it all that well, lets hope I do a better job with this one!
Maddy is doing well. She has her two bottom teeth and I think she is getting ready to cut her top two as well. The ear tubes seem to be doing their job and there has been no drainage or fever for almost 2 weeks.
Maddy has been a bear when it comes to eating lately. I don't know if she is going through a phase or what, but lately she doesn't want to eat. It's strange because she has always been a good eater and lately she just isn't interested. Mom says that she is probably getting tired of baby food and wants to move to seomthing new. Last night when she didn't eat I made a waffle and cut it into tiny pieces and she ate it. Looks like we are going to have to start eating kid friendly foods that can be easily cut into small pieces.
Maddy isn't wakling or crawling yet, but will scoot backwards. The pediatrician says as long as she is showing interest in movement not to be concerned. She will stand if you put her up and have her hold on to something, but she won't do it on her own. I guess all babies are different and she will do everything in her own time.
We are starting to gear up for her first birthday. I know it is still over a month away, but I need the time to wrap myself around the fact that our baby girl is going to be one soon!
