NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS 2008

January

The year started off with a bang as Chico was hit with a storm that dropped tree limbs onto our roof and driveway and knocked out the power for about 3 days. We spent our time huddled in blankets and playing this fun game on Courtney's phone we decided to call "Bubble Game". Mason was better at it than Mom.
February

In February we took a trip to the snow. This was a first for Mason and Sydnee. Mason enjoyed going on the toboggan with Daddy but he was somewhat despondent after a while when he kept falling down when trying to walk in the snow. Then the kids had a melt down while Courtney and some of the others tried to help our idiot friend get his jeep un-stuck after he drove himself into a snow bank (Congrats, Porter, you made the highlights).

March

B-O-R-I-N-G: According to master note taker and button pusher, Mom   - Nothing happened

  APRIL

Mason turned 4 and Sydnee turned 2 - Many of you will remember the party at the fairground in Orland where everyone rode a train. Quite possibly the coolest thing in Orland except for I-5.

  May

Mason and Dad went to their first Giants game. This is where Dad learned that the Giants mascot is a seal, not a squirrel (something apparently one would not learn by watching the games on television). Dad had an exciting time taking Mason to the bathroom, alternating between giving some jerks dirty looks and keeping
Mason from touching anything. Dad then made another mistake
when he decided to buy Mason a Sammy the Seal (or
whatever is the name of the mascot) Doll and found out that the $15.00 price tag was just for the naked seal and actually came to about $65.00 when you bought the shoes, hat and other accessories. Dad then swore off the Giants and became a fan of the Rivercats, who
have cheaper stuff because they are just a minor-league team.

June - Fathers Day - Dad went golfing.
July

Cousin/Uncle Ryan got married. Mom and Dad dumped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's house and went to Cape May, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Dad ate a cheese steak from a street vendor who was probably not a member of Mensa and liked it.
August

Dad turned 32 years old. Because he is a wild, wild man everyone went bowling.
September

Mason started his second year of pre-school at Montessori, officially passing his Father in scholastic achievement.

October
Samantha turned 32 years old. Because she is a wild woman Dad can't remember what we did to celebrate (sorry, Samantha).

We attended a pumpkin carving party at   Red Headed Jen's house. Mason didn't like it because the insides of the pumpkins were icky so Dad didn't get any pumpkin seeds to roast. This is actually mainly because Dad is   lazy.

Schreiber and Lori had a Halloween party where Schreib entertained the children with a dazzling display of Ninja skills.

November

Samantha ran her 1st 10k and experience the joy of disappointing herself. Two days later she went running in the dark and sprained her ankle. She has since become quite proficient with an Ace bandage.

Thanksgiving - Lindsay ran the Turkey Trot and Patrick and Alana beat Courtney, which sucked. Courtney renewed his vow to disappoint himself with the results of every run   and then we all ate turkey. Cousin/uncle Ryan and new wifey-poo, Elissa & Madison came to town. Ryan enjoyed chopping wood until -in some incredible defiance of physics- hit himself in the forehead with a piece of wood and bloodied up one of Samantha's towels.

December

Mom and Dad have their 5th anniversary - Take THAT, naysayers!

Also, we will be having Christmas. Cousin Blake and his girlfriend, Kristin are   coming and Courtney is going to have Blake chop some wood to see if idiocy is genetic.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Love, The Nelsons  (no, not those Nelsons the other ones).

April 3rd 2007

January 2007 ~ Can't believe is almost end of January. It seems that November and December passed rather fast.

In November, we had Thanksgiving at Grandpa and Grandma Nelson's house. Sydnee has learned to pincher grab her Cheerios and now eating everything. Well, almost everything. Her eczema was getting worst. Mason has started his series of speech and hearing tests.

In December, Courtney and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary by going to see a movie. We haven't been to a movie theater since Mason was three months old. We went down to Southern California form Dec. 8th till' 12th. We went to Legoland and Disneyland. We visited my sister and her family. Mason really enjoy playing with his cousin, Kylie and Kyle. We had lunch with Nikola (Mason's Godmother) and Chris. They finally met each other. Mason has started his speech therapy one a week. His test result was at the cusp and since a child only gets free therapy until they are three years old, ( only four months away!) they thought he would benefit from it even in that short time. Sydnee's eczema...well, someday it looked like she was getting better and next day back being red and try and sometimes when it gets really bad, it cracks. ( you can see them really bad in the Christmas pictures!) We went back to her pediatrician three times and dermatologist twice and now finally ...looking a little better.  Her first tooth poop out on Christmas Eve! (would be the lower right one if you were looking at her.)

October 2006

October 2006 ~ This Halloween, Mason dressed up as a Monkey and Sydnee was a banana.  They were a hit.  They went trick o' treating around Great-Grandma's neighborhood. Mason started out somewhat shy but after more candy than mom allowed, he started to make friends with lots of people. Sydnee was content to sit in her chair and allow a few pictures to be taken of her, not unlike Queen Elizabeth. All in all, it was a great night to be a kid.

Sydnee as been sitting pretty well since her six months Birthday.  And she loves to do the R aspberries...And I love wiping it off my face well feeding her.  Mason is well, being a two year old...one minute he is  happy,  the next he is not.   He has been talking a bit more.  I can't waite to have conversations with him one of these days.  They say the cutest things!

September 2006 - Mason is becoming such a big boy. He seems to be less shy. He would wave hi and bye to strangers and give great hugs and sometimes kisses to his little friends and family.
Sydnee has started her first meal, rice cereal on (9/23/06). She is full of giggles and laughers. We love making her laugh, is the cutest thing ever.

August 24, 2006 ~ Sydnee got her ears pierced. Yes, she did cry but just a little bit. She was a tuff little girl. Auntie Alana took some pictures. (coming soon!)
