January 4th 2010- Well, its been a year since i have last updated this website. Our computer took a crap and i also have been procrastinating! But a lot has happened over the past year. Last winter Patrick spent a lot of time out of town working to help restore power to the southern states. It was one long winter for us! Shelby's birthday rolled around and our baby turned 4! We had a wonderful birthday party with family and made some memories that we will treasure the rest of our lives. We also welcomed a new niece to the family, Maggie Victoria Ridge on April 7th. Shelby and Maggie will have a special bond forever, for they share their birthdays! In May, we went to Captiva Island to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary! It was so beautiful and relaxing and Shelby loved every minute of it. In June, on Fathers Day, our family received some very devastating news, our cousin Aidan Garvey 5 yrs old, was diagnosed with leaukemia. Aidan then contracted the Swine Flu, H1N1 virus, and fought for his life for the next 3 weeks. On July 17th, Aidan lost his battle and became an angel. Aidan will always be with us, in our hearts and homes, because that is how we will keep his memory alive. Aidan's favorite saying was, "This is the best day of my life!" And i do believe that he is having some of the best days of his life up in heaven. We love you very much Aidan and miss you dearly. The loss of Aidan, really made Pat and I reevaluate what was important in our lives. So we have made some changes and are living each day to its fullest and spending a lot of time with family and friends. By now most of the summer has passed and we are headed into Preschool. Shelby is attending Primrose School in Gahanna and loves it. She is doing well. We went to Parent/Teacher confrence and they told us she spends a lot of time in "Shelby Land" and she has a very wild imagination! Pat and I laughed our butts off when we got into the car! All in all, she is doing well and she should start kindergarden next fall. The fall was pretty event free, except for Pat working a lot. Pat's mother retired from AEP in November after 25 years! Now we have a full time back up babysitter for when school is closed! Yippee! The holidays were wonderful and so memorable. I can't wait for them to come again next year. I am still working for the same home care company and Pat for AEP. We are so grateful for our jobs and blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family. We hope all is well with you and your familes. Take Care and God Bless. Kelli & Pat

November 17, 2008- Once again, here I am two months later giving all of you our latest update. Our biggest event over the last couple of months was definately Halloween. Shelby was a Pirate, with a hook and sword, just like Captain Hook on Peter Pan. She had a great time this year and was a real trooper. She made it all the way around our little village without stopping! She got so much candy that we still have 2 large freezer bags full! Then the next evening we went over to Aunt Val's and Uncle Todd's house and went trick or treating with the girls! We had a great time and came home with 2 more bags of candy! I don't know who is eating more Patrick or Shelby. I swear one of them is going to end up at the dentist. The next big thing is the pit bike that Patrick bought! It's just a miniture dirt bike but made for adults! Oh, I think Patrick is going through his second childhood. Shelby just loves to ride it! If she hears that thing fire up she is out the back door in 2.5 seconds yelling "wait for me daddy!" Patrick has been filling in as a supervisor in the office so it has been a nice change of pace for him. The overtime has not slowed down though, he is gone as much if not more. But we are just thankful for both of our jobs in todays economy. Aunt Val and Uncle Todd have not sold there house yet, so they will at least be here through the holidays, and boy, are we are thankful for that. As the holidays approach, we hope that this note finds all of you heathy, happy, and full of love. All of Our Love, Kelli, Patrick, and Shelby.
September 9, 2008~ Hello everyone! We just got back from Hilton Head Island the first of the month. We went for a week with our friends Brad and Christina Wood. We had a great time. It was in the upper 90's everyday and no rain! We avoided both the tropical storm and the hurricanes! Shelby loves the beach and couldn't get enough time out there. She got to pet a baby shark a man caught on the beach and loves playing with the dead crabs! Her and Patrick would build them sandcastles and little pools to swim in. Shelby thinks they were just taking a nap! After we returned from the beach we welcomed a new addtion to our family, Belle. She is a teacup schnauzer! She is half the size of Sally! Shelby thinks she is wonderful! Sally enjoys having a playmate, and Patrick thinks he resides in a petting zoo! But he seems to be the one sleeping with the dogs in the evenings on the couch. Todd, Patrick's sister's husband, has taken a job promotion and relocated to Arizona. Val and the girls are still here until the house sells. We are enjoying all the time we can with them, because we will miss them when they move. We had a great time over labor day with them and we all wished Todd well on his trip. Pat and I have returned to work reluctantly.....we would rather just become beach bums! HAHA! Shelby is back in preschool and she is actually enjoying it. We havc overcome the daily meltdowns, thank goodness! We hope all is well with your families and look forward to seeing all of you. Love, Kelli, Patrick. and Shelby.
August 12th 2008~ Well, once again 2 months have passed and a lot has changed in the Staley Family. Our summer has been extremely busy since we have last updated all of you. The month of June was a heck of a lot better than the month of May. Cousin Madison turned 3 and we had a great time at her pool party. We have spent almost every weekend at Mimi and Poppy's house swimming and playing with cousin Madison and Briar. Daddy was sent out of town to work due to the severe thunderstorms that hit southeastern Ohio. On July 19th we traveled to Cincinnati for a family wedding in which Shelby was the flower girl. She did an amazing job! Patrick and I were worried for weeks that she would freeze in front of all of those people, so we developed a game plan. We did a lot of practicing in the weeks prior in our living room, tossing cotton balls out of a bucket! Well, Shelby liked to throw them like a baseball! So needless to say Pat and I were extremely worried. We had purchased 2 toys that Shelby had been wanting for months. The deal was she would only get them if she was a GOOD flower girl. The night of the rehersal came and she did amazing. She did it 4 times beautifully. Well, the day of the wedding arrived and boy was it hot. It was 99 degrees that day and the wedding and reception were outdoors! All I could think was she is going to have a huge melt down. So my family all sat down for the ceremony and we placed them all along the aisle. My mom and dad sat half way down the isle, so i knew i could get her that far. The wedding started and we all had sweat dripping from places we didn't even know existed. I stayed back with Shelby and sent her down the isle when it was her turn. She began walking and then froze as she got up to the chairs. Then she looked down into her basket, that had rose petals in it, and sticking out was a sucker! She grabbed the sucker looked up and said "Look I got a Sucker!" and then off she went. She stopped halfway down to show my parents and then continued the rest of the way down the isle. She walked up to the front, she turned and bowed! She was so Cute! Thank God She Did It! We survived! The wedding was beautiful and my cousin Brandon and his new wife Marie looked awesome and were wonderful hosts! The Monday following the wedding Shelby started preschool. We have enrolled her in Primrose Schools and it's an outstanding place. But needless to say it has been a rough 3 weeks. Shelby has a meltdown everyday! She doesn't want me to leave her! The first week was pure hell, kicking, screaming, and huge tears! Each week has gotten slightly better. The teachers say she calms right down and has a great day. So pretty much all this amounts to is Shelby has my number. She just knows how to pull my chain and make ole mom feel like crap! My parents say that i am just getting a dose of my own medicine. Patrick's mom says that Patrick cried for 6 months straight! So I guess Pat and I just are getting what we have coming to us. It's a good thing she is an only child. I don't think we could survive another. The good thing is we have noticed the tremendous strides Shelby has made in just 3.5 weeks. She is very proud of her achievments and can't wait to show/tell us what she has learned each day! So a busy summer so far, and we have a lot more planned. We hope all is well with each and every one of you. All of Our Love, Kelli, Patrick, and Shelby.
June 4th-2008: Shelby's imagination is out of this world. Over the past few weeks, Shelby has really taking a liking to the movie The Little Mermaid. She has watched it over and over and over again. So much that I catch my self singing along with the movie! So she now believes she is a mermaid. She constatly is singing at the top of her lungs word for word the songs from the movie! She is so theatrical! Lord help us for what we have in store for the future. The other new thing, is her imaginary playmate, Elliott. He is a Dragon! Whlie visiting Patrick's Mom she has been watching Pete's Dragon. She informed Patrick and I last night that Elliott has now come to live on our porch because he can't find his cave and the bad people are after him! So we are now having to check on Elliott, give him water and crackers, and shew him away before we let the puppy out to potty. Shelby is afraid Sally may be scared of Elliott so she tells him to go hide while Sally potties! Maybe she will write movies someday and make millions! All of her little gestures and antics make Patrick and I realize how lucky we are to have her in our lives. Oh, on a more serious note. Many of you know one of my best friend's Christina Wood. Well, one of her really close friends Jess has twin boys Shelby's age. One of the twins was just diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and is now in St. Jude's undergoing treatment. Prognosis does not look good for him but they are definatly dealing with the best physicians out there. If you could all please say a prayer for him and his family I know they would appreciate it..... All Of Our Love, Kelli & Pat.
Well, of course, it has taken me almost 2 months to update Shelby's website! We have been extremely busy over the past couple of months. So lets see, where do i begin? Shelby turned 3 and we had a great day! It was just the 3 of us and we had so much fun! Two weeks later when we were getting ready to have Shelby's birthday party, she got the chicken pox. The same week Sal, our dog, had surgury, and had his anal glands removed. Shelby only had a mild case of the chicken pox, the worst of it on her sides and scalp. But the dog on the other hand didn't fair so well. Sal ended up having to live in the basement because he couldn't control his bowels for awhile and was bleeding a lot. So between a whining kid and a sick dog, I was pretty much about to lose my mind! So that brings us into the month of May. As most of you know we hooked up to city sewage last summer and so we had to redo our lawns this spring. To make a long story short, we had 2 weeks of hell of trying to get the yard done and the sod down. I then developed ingrown toe nails on my left big toe that had to be removed. To make another long story short, I developed a horrible staph infection. I was on a month of anitbiotics and off work with a nasty toe. In the midst of all of this, I had to have Sal put down. He never regained control of his bowels. The worst day of my life! I could not come home and face Shelby. So, I went out the same day and bought a toy schnauzer and her name is Sally! We told Shelby, Sal got sick and ran away to find his mommy and she was just fine with that. We love Sally! She has sure brightened our days. Shelby carries her around in a purse. She is only 2 pounds and not expected to get any larger than 5! I am now off antibiotics and the toe is still nasty but staph has resolved. So here we are, over 60 days have passed, no birthday party for poor Shelby, and mom and dad are exhausted! Hope all of you are doing well. Take care..... All of our Love, Kelli and Patrick
March 30th 2008- This past week we were blessed to have been able to travel to Bucyrus twice to visit with family. (New pictures posted) Regi, Aidan, and Ava were here visiting from Boston. We drove to Bucyrus and spent the night on Tuesday. We had a great time eating pizza, laughing, and visitng at Uncle Brett and Aunt Toni's house. The kids all played great together and are growing sooooo fast. Then on Saturday we returned for a dinner and auction with Brett and Toni. My parents had all 3 kids (Shelby, Madison, and Briar) and boy did they have there hands full! But Patrick and I had a awesome time. Shelby is still talking about going to Uncle Brett's and Aunt Toni's (or Aunt Oni as Shelby says it!) house. All of our Love, Kelli, Patrick, and Shelby.
March 24th 2008- Well, Easter has come and gone again in the Staley house. Shelby was up at 5 a.m. asking if the Easter Bunny had been here yet. We told her not till the sun comes up. So she went back to sleep until 7:15 a.m. Once she got down stairs she was just thrilled to see that she had toys and candy. But most of all, she truley enjoyed finding all the plastic eggs that the Easter bunny (Patrick) had hid for her to find. So today (Monday) when Shelby got up she was sorely disappointed to find that there were no eggs to find and no Easter Bunny leaving gifts. We had one heck of a meltdown! What a rough morning I had motivating her to get to the sitters so I wasn't late for work. It was a great day and we are truely blessed to have such a beautiful child in our lives. All Our Love, Kelli, Patrick, & Shelby
