Jasmin is 1yr, 6months and 3weeks old today. ie. 18mths 3 weeks. Since my last update on her developmental growth, Jasmin has really 'grown' haa She is able to understand instructions better, able to express herself clearer and can even read words.

Some of the stuff Jasmin can do or understand at 18months plus:-

• She is able to understand instructions like Wait, sit, bring this to xxx, put that on the xxx, put the cover on the xxx, hold this, carry that, wash your hands etc.
• She can use the remote control and switch on the tv, fan, aircon, put in her barney dvd by herself
• She is able to express herself better. Once, i was driving and i stopped at the traffic light. I turned to look at her, and she was squinting and her head turned to one side in the car seat. I ask her what was wrong, she told me 'Hot', then she use her hand to cover her eyes to shield out the sun. Another time, she accidentally knocked her forehead on her waterbottle, when she leaned forward suddenly on her high chair. As i was scooping rice to feed her, i din see what happened. She started whining, then i ask her what happened. Jasmin said head, then she rubbed her forehead, then she point to the waterbottle. Then she pick up the waterbottle, and in slow motion, showed me what happened. She leaned forward slowly until her forehead touched the waterbottle, then she look at me and say Head then she rubbed her head. Then she look at the waterbottle and say Beat, then she tried to smack the bottle. Haa so funny right. Then on several occasions, when i was in the toilet or busy with something, and she cried cause she could not find me or her daddy made her upset, when i came back to the room, she would run to me, then say 'Cry' then do the crying action (rubbing her eyes) and go Wehh wehh wehh, telling me she cried just now. Then last weekend, her daddy smacked her hand cause she was naughty. Jasmin ran to her Ah Gong, and told her Ah Gong, 'Beat', then pointed to her daddy, telling her Ah Gong that her daddy beat her. Haa
• She can identify and read out loud about 30 english words, and identify and name about 50 picture cards of animals, fruits, veggies etc.
• She can identify and name most major parts of her body like head, elbow, arm, eyes, nose, hand, toes, chin, neck, knee etc.

Jasmin's Ah Ma bought her a small inflatable pool today. Jasmin cried for about 15mins before she dared to venture into the pool with mummy carrying her. I think its probably cause she hasn't been swimming in a looong time hehe..

Jasmin loves Barney! (She calls him Narney). She wants to watch Barney day and night; asks for Barney when she wakes up, asks for Barney in the afternoon, and asks for barney at night before she sleeps. As such, now Jasmin has 3 barney dvds, about 10 barney vcds and 2 barney cds. Not to mention, barney towels, barney waterbottle, and several barney toys.

But frankly speaking, what kids like, are what we parents expose them too. So if a parent keeps showing their kid or buying their kid Hello Kitty stuff, Thomas Train or Bob the Builder, then that kid will keep like that particular character.

I let Jasmin watch Barney on Kids Central several times, when she was about 14 months old. At first, she wasn't really into it, her attention on the tv on and off. She would play with her toys, and only watch when they started singing songs. So when she was about 15 months, i bought her a Barney vcd called Round and Round We Go. After watching it twice, she was hooked. So was i actually keke

I used to think barney was this silly purple dinosaur and i didn't understand why kids went crazy over him. But after watching the few episodes of Barney on kids central and Round and Round we Go with Jasmin, i realised that not only are the songs really catchy, they teach really educational stuff. The songs they sing about, teach stuff like the difference between big and little, look both ways before you cross the street, shapes, how to count etc...And i read somewhere that 2 professors from Yale did a research on Barney programmes and rated it as very educational and good for pre-schoolers.

So, i decided that since Jasmin enjoyed watching Round and Round, no harm buying a few more discs for her to watch. of course, its trial and error. Some Barney videos she's not that interested in, some she just loves! As long as its educational, i don't mind indulging her in Barney keke

Jasmin is becoming cheekier by the day. Not only does she imitate others when she hears people coughing, sneezing or burping, when she sees someone going into the toilet, she will say Shhh Shhh (shee shee).

If she hears someone farting (hear the pooot sound) she will go Mmm, frown,look at the person and wave her hand in front of her face (smelly action) and will say Pehpoot pehpoot loudly. So whoever just farted, want to hide also cannot haha

And nowadays, when she farts, she will lift one side of her butt up if she's sitting, then she'll giggle after she farts, and she'll point at someone else and say Pehpoot. So young already know how to blame other people haa

During mealtime, if she sees someone with food ie.a grain of rice for eg. stuck at the side of the lip etc (aka supper), she will point and shout 'eat eat eat!' asking the person to eat up that piece of food or grain of rice ;o)

Jasmin wearing her squeaky shoes! Mummy used to find these shoes irritating before she gave birth to jasmin. She couldn't stand it when those pesky neighbourhood kids walked around with their squeaky shoes..so noisy! But now mummy thinks the shoes are adorable..only when on Jasmin! hehe

Today was Jasmin's Growing Up Gifted class last lesson for this semester. After attending 7 sessions out of the 9 for her first semester, mummy and daddy signed jasmin up for another semester, seeing how much she enjoyed herself during the past few Sundays.

In just 7 sessions alone, where in each session, the teachers would teach the students Zoophonics, reciting A to Z with action one time per class, mummy realised a few days after term ended, that jasmin could actually remember how to do about half of the zoophonics actions and pronounce some of the phonic sounds..just after hearing and watching it 7 times! The amazing power of the learning mind! So, mummy has decided to recite the zoophonics alphabet and do the action with jasmin at least twice a week, until the new term starts hehe

Jasmin likes to show off her tummy and she can do belly dance moves with her tummy! i only managed to capture a short bit of her doing the tummy thingy..she can actually move it much faster!

Last night, Jasmin was attacked by a psycho mosquito 9 times! It was most probably hiding in her blanket, which accounts for the concentration of the bites on her legs. Mummy didn't realise it until in the morning when jasmin woke up...if she had known earlier, she would have hunted the moquito down during the night!

My poor darling!

After meeting Aunty Yichun, Uncle Wai, Aunty Janice, Auntie Cynthia and Uncle Eddie for lunch at Kyo-Nichi Marina Square, Mummy brought Jasmin to Kiddy palace to buy some stuff. Uncle eddie tagged along while the rest went back to their respective offices after their lunch hour was up.
