Jasmin is 15months today! Time really flies! Right now, she's learning fast and to me, very observant. I think babies around this age are very curious and are copycats! She tries to imitate or copy everything we do.. I noticed quite a big difference in terms of her learning and ability to absorb information once she hit around the 14th month mark.

Some of the things jasmin can do now:-

- say and point to - bear, baby, bird (bir), wow, where, there, banana (nana), mummy (mameh), star, ball, umbrella (ayaya), dirty, raining (naining), turtle, choo choo train (ch ch te), daddy, ah ma, mama, flower (fower), hangar (anga), please (peas), No, more, elmo (momo), apple (paple),  among some others

- self-feed with a spoon, but can't really scoop from the bowl yet.

November 7th, 2006 - Jasmin & her walking Pooh

Jasmin has this walking Pooh toy which she finds very amusing. She would press the ear (to get the pooh started) then she will 'run' away from the pooh or try to walk faster in front of the Pooh. Here's a clip of her playing with the Pooh

We brought Jasmin on the Superstar Virgo again! This is her third time cruising. This time around, we went on the weekend cruise, which is the cruise to nowhere. Her previous two times on the cruise were on the Sunday cruise to Penang, Phuket, and the Wednesday cruise to KL. Now that Jasmin can walk, she had lots more fun on the cruise as she could wander around and we were not that afraid of her falling down as the whole ship is carpeted!

Here are some photos of our trip:-

Jasmin watching Magiq

I bought her the Tiny Love Magiq toy cow upon recommendation from some mummy friends. It's an interactive toy which will talk and sing, and interact with the other characters on the tv/dvd which comes together with the toy.

The first 2 times i showed it to jasmin on the tv, she wasn't interested and only paid attention to the tv for few mins each time. But subsequently after that, she became more and more engrossed. Now, she can sing along with the characters in the show, as well as do the actions.

Jasmin is almost 100% recovered! After we brought her to the PD on friday morning, he said that she had a viral infection. But cause she didn't have a fever then, he only prescribed her some tummy medicine and vomitting medicine just in case.

After we came home, around 3pm, jasmin started to develop a fever, around 37.8 degrees. technically, according to the PD, using a ear thermometer, only 38 degrees and above is counted as a fever. but jasmin felt hot to me at 37.8 degrees, and she was starting to get a bit cranky, so i fed her some baby panadol.

From friday evening till saturday evening, jasmin's temperature went up and down. highest was 38.2 degrees. This wasn't as bad as her previous viral fever, when her highest temperature was 39.2 degrees.

On Saturday evening, jasmin started to develop a rash. It started around her groin area, but soon spread to the rest of her body. We suspected that it was Roseola, a type of viral infection, where after the fever subsides, a red rash appears.

However, Jasmin started rejecting her milk that night, and had trouble sucking her pacifier. She was really cranky and sticky to me, more so than usual. Also, she was crying and had trouble falling asleep. Her tongue had a thick coating and i saw some bumps on her tongue. We suspected that she might be having a mouth ulcer on the tongue, hence the difficulty/pain in swallowing or sucking. She also woke up crying several times through the night.

On sunday, the rash spread to the rest of her body, but jasmin's fever had subsided. But she still refused to drink her milk from the bottle. I tried using the cup with straw to feed her, but she wouldn't drink much from it. i tried feeding her with a spoon, but it takes forever, and creates a big mess cause she keeps hitting the spoon away. Also, she tried to spit out the milk after a few mouthfuls. We didn't know if its because of the taste of the milk, the texture or what..her tongue could be more sensitive or painful because of the ulcer, or her tastebuds more sensitive etc.

So on monday, we brought her back to the PD. He diagnosed her rash as Roseola and found a small ulcer on her left gum (not on her tongue as we suspected). Poor baby! She's just like her mummy, oh no! I've been having mouth ulcers since i was 1yr plus too..

Jasmin's appetite has since improved, but she's still rejecting her milk. During the weekend, i just fed her lots of watery porridge with frisocrem in place of her milk. On monday, i gave her thicker porridge (almost similar consistency to her normal porridge) and i added fruit baby jar food to her frisocrem to add more taste and nutrients). We also gave her chinese barley to drink cause she didn't poo poo on sat and sunday. i think its because she didn't drink milk, only eat solids, so her total fluid intake fell, even though i gave her more water to drink.

So now, at the PD's suggestion, i am starting to give jasmin milo (mixed with some of her FM) and fresh milk like magnolia, ,in place of the rejected FM. I'm introducing the fresh milk slowly, cause i'm afraid she might be allergic to it. Previously, on a few occasions, i've used fresh milk to cook some of her meals, and she was ok. So now, trying to introduce to her to drink straight from the packet, but slowly.

Anyway, today, she's more or less ok liao..just that she is still extra sticky to me, and more fussy at night. I think its because she's teething, but that's another thing to write about another time :o)

October 20th, 2006 (3am)

We just reached home, from the Thomson Medical Centre 24hour walk in family clinic. We brought Jasmin there to see the doctor, cause Jasmin threw up 4 times since 12am. She had been sleeping since 9pm, making some noise and stirring (which is quite usual). Then i was in the toilet brushing my teeth around 12am when i heard her making more noise than usual from the bedroom, then hubby exclaimed frantically, cause jasmin woke up and started dry retching before puking a bit.

I immediately carried her and she continued to try to vomit. By the time i reached the toilet, she puked a bit on my shoulder, and some into the sink. it was part of her dinner (salmon with mashed potato). After puking, she smiled her cheeky smile at us! Think cause she felt better after puking. At first we were suspecting that it was her dinner that did not agree with her. But she had the same thing for lunch, and she had been ok the whole day...

After wiping her clean and changing her shirt, we tried to feed her some water and Jin Feng San, and observe her. She was ok for a few minutes, smiling her cheeky smile at us, but after a while, i think the water didn't agree with her stomach, and made her retch again.

Worried sick, we decided to bring her down to TMC for the attending doctor to take a look. While i was packing the diaper bag and daddy was changing her, she vomitted a bit again. Totally freaked out now, we rushed down to TMC.

When we reached TMC, daddy went to park the car while i carried her in. On the way to the reception, Jasmin vomitted again, this time, more of her dinner. After cleaning her up in the toilet, we waited for jasmin's turn to see the doctor.

The doctor examined jasmin and said that most probably it was stomach flu. He prescribed some medicine and the nurse put a suppository in her bottom to help with the vomitting. Poor girl cried and cried for 1 or 2 mins, then settled down.

On the way back home, Jasmin fell asleep in the car. Mummy is on night duty now, to observe her and on standby, just in case. Daddy just fell asleep, but will wake up later to take over. The doctor said that if the vomitting continues, we have to insert another suppository into her bottom, and feed her the oral electrolytes (freezer pops) as well as medicine. She won't be able to stomach milk now, unless its soy formula. and water, have to feed a bit by a bit...probably will spoonfeed her. Bread and biscuits is ok. The doctor said that if the vomitting continues for the next 12-18 hours, must bring back for a drip.

Later, in the morning, we will bring her to her PD for a check. Best to let her PD take a look at her cause he's a pediatrician, while the TMC doctor on duty is just a GP. Also, Jasmin's  scheduled for a chicken pox vaccination next week. So better let him check her overall too. Dun think she will be ready/strong enough for her jab by monday though.

Ok, mummy is going back to her night duty now.

Yay! jasmin can walk already! Actually on Sunday Oct 1st (children's day) i realised by chance that she could walk already...cause she has been cruising and walking with assistance/support (we hold her hand) very well...and can totter few steps by herself without assistance before oct 1st, but i tot she was still trying to get the hang of the concept so i didn't think much of it.

But on Sunday oct 1st, i let go of her hand and told her to walk to her toy which was lying in the middle of the room...she walked to the toy and continue walking and walking and walking and walking until she walked out of the room, into the corridor and into the next room!

So i think, a few days before Oct 1st, she could walk liao..

But of course, now she is still P plate lah..walking but a bit unsteadily..not a pro yet :o)
