Feb 28th,2006

Jasmin has outgrown her bouncer. She has been trying to sit upright/get up/off her bouncer for the past few weeks, and today, she has more or less succeeded (as can be seen from the pic in the Pictures section). I'm not letting her sit in the bouncer anymore. She almost flipped it over...

Jasmin managed to flip from her right side (when lying on her back) today. So far, she has only been flipping on the left side, but today she started flipping from her right side as well.

Jasmin had a slight fever today. Brought her for the first of three Pneumoccocal vaccination jabs (vaccine against pneumonia virus etc). This jab has a higher incidence of fever side effects. For Jasmin's 6-in-1 jabs, she didn't have any fever, but for this jab, her temperature was 37.9degrees. Actually, using electronic ear thermometer for babies, above 38degrees is counted as fever. But jasmin's whole body was hot, so this KS mummy decided to give her some baby panadol first to bring down her temperature, and i also stuck a fever patch by Pigeon on her forehead. Luckily, within 3 or 4 hours, her temperature was back to normal :o)

January 21st 2006

Jasmin has mastered the art of rolling :o) she can only flip/turn from her left side, so now she has started moving from one end of the bed to the other end by rolling i.e lying on her back, flip to her front using her left side, then flip/lie on her back again, then flip to her front again using her left side and on and on haha

Jasmin has been doing situps for the past few weeks liao..everytime we carry her in a cradle position, feed her or put her in the bouncer or pram, she will keep doing situps, like trying to get up like that..she will stretch her legs upwards and bend her head and upper body forward (see pics below for eg.) so cute! hehe

Jasmin's neck is still a bit wobbly, can't really support her head fully. We tried putting her in her Bumbo Seat (a specially designed baby seat to help babies who can't sit upright yet, to sit upright :)

November 17th Thursday

Jasmin has been having an adverse reaction to her bcg jab which was given at birth. Her bcg jab/scar has healed, but it has caused her to have a small bump around her hip/groin area. Its a soft bump, filled with liquid/pus. The doctor says its a non-infectious cold abscess bump most probably caused by the BCG jab (cause its at the spot directly opp the bcg jab on her buttock). According to the pd, the live virus of the BCG travelled to her lymph node there and caused it to enlarge. As the bump is getting bigger, Jasmin underwent a minor surgery to remove the bump this morning, on Local Anaesthesia and using the gas mask. Her operation took about 30mins..she came out crying, not from the pain but from the cold, cause i think they had to strip her..Poor baby! she had the gas mask mark across her face somemore!

According to the PD, its quite common (he sees ten over cases a year). She's doing fine now...doesn't seem to be feeling any pain, as predicted by the PD. Dunno is it because she's still too young to know what is pain, or the wound really doesn't hurt..

November 14th, Monday

Jasmin is approaching her 12th week ( today is 2mths, 3weeks, 5days old) and she is becoming increasingly aware about her surroundings. She has learnt to 'harness' the power of her voice (will protest or shout loudly when not happy) and doesn't like to be carried in the cradle position - lying down- anymore (since about 2-3 weeks ago). She likes to be carried in a sitting position, so she can look around and see things. If you carry her in a cradle position, she will start doing 'sit-ups', ie. trying to get up..so cute! haha

here's my labour story. I had quite a loong labour.....

18th Aug morning
i had constant Braxton hicks since morning and crampy sensation (menstrual cramps kind). Didn't think much of it, cause not painful and no show.

18th aug 2pm plus
Got a show (bloody mucus plug). Crampy sensation got stronger, but didn?t think much of it, cause not even one third as painful as my normal menstrual cramps.

18th aug, 5pm plus
Crampy sensation and Braxton hicks getting stronger and more frequent, but still but didn?t think much of it, cause not even half as painful as my normal menstrual cramps.

18th aug, 7pm plus
after dinner, Crampy sensation and Braxton hicks getting stronger and more frequent. Decided to call TMC labour ward, cause beginning to feel half as painful as my normal menstrual cramps.
TMC labour ward said my gynae was still in the hospital, asked me to go down to the labour ward for her to check.

18th aug, 8pm plus
Gynae says I am only 1cm dilated, but contractions already 3min apart! I didn?t even know that what I was experiencing was contractions. Checked into hospital, admitted into labour ward. Gynae says won?t be so fast..fastest 6 hours, but could be up till12 hours.

18th aug, 10pm plus
Pain getting unbearable, contractions 2 mins apart.

19th aug, 2am
Pain like shit! Contractions 1min apart. On the monitor scale (CTG i think) of up to 100, contractions reading hit up to 80 plus. Buay tahan liao, asked for the Gas. Totally useless, only made me feel like vomiting.

19th aug, 230 am .
Nurse checked for dilation. Still 1 cm only!!! I surrender, asked for epidural.

19th aug, 250am
Epidural anaesthetist arrives. Think I woke him up from bed. His hair messy messy and looks sleepy eyed. Epidural administered, level of dosage is 6. Finally, relief! But legs numb. I ask them to turn down level of dosage to 4, then to 3 cause legs very very numb. Nurse is incredulous, ask me put at level 3, might as well don't have epidural. Can feel contractions a bit, but its preferable over completely numb legs.

19th aug, 5am.
Contractions getting very strong. Can feel even though on epidural. Upped dosage level to 6. legs totally no feeling

19th aug, 540 am
Gynae comes in to check on my dilation. 2cm only!!! Gynae says too slow. Induce. So burst water bag, put on drip.

19th aug,
-830am
contractions pain like shit! Can feel them even though on dosage level 6. upped dosage to level 8. still can feel contractions. Vomitted twice because epidural too strong liao..start shivering

19th aug, 840 am
Nurse comes in and wakes me up. She checks me and I ask her how long more. She say, get ready to push. I was like, har? now? can push already?? Can't feel a thing down there, legs like jelly. They switch off epidural. And I start pushing. Still can't feel a thing..nurse say imagine you have constipation and push towards your anus. Ok, I try. The nurses are very helpful and good, guide me to take deep breathe and push hard. Hubby also encouraging me to push..he's standing right beside me, urging me to 'one, two, push..take a deep breath.." hello? how to take a deep breath when hubby is 'blowing' carbon dioxide in my face each time he asks me to 'one, two, push".. After 9 pushes, they called my gynae to come to the labour ward.

19th aug, 855 am
gynae arrives. I can feel baby at the opening. really feels like trying to hold your poo poo back from coming out haha

19th aug, 859 am,
i am so eager to see baby, after 3 pushes, can see baby's head. gynae gives me episiotomy cut and baby pops out! At the sight of baby, i almost burst into tears. Gynae stitches me back. Vomitted once again because of the injection gynae gives me.
